Tried it in my ’03 Springfield.  ACWW and 16grs of 2400.  About 1.5″ at 50 yds for the first try with iron sights and old eyes.  With the wide nose HP it punches a nearly perfect hole in the target.  I do believe it can be made to do better but that is a good first try.  In the ’06 the gascheck extends past the base of the neck when the bullet is seated to be engraved by the lands.

I really wanted this bullet for my Krag and can’t wait till it comes back home.  I think it will be an ideal fit for the .30-40 with its long neck case and should be shootable at just about full power for the Krag (about 2000fps for a 220gr bullet).  You only thought this was a 300 Blackout design.  Hah!!!  I think you have produced the best cast hunting bullet ever for the Krag and I hope to prove it.

i been shooting this bullet in my 30-40 krag handi rifle. loaded to crimp groove it just touches the rifling. only powder i have used so far is trail boss and it still makes nice round holes. barrel is 1-10 twist.

Why yes I have and had very good luck Accuracy wise
mine with 50/50/2 alloy weigh 225-226 Grns .. Pc’ed jet Black and sized to 311
7.0 grns Lil Gun 2.100 OAL. gets me approx. 1015 FPS out of a Noveski 10.2: 300 Blkout and YHM suppressor

very first group I shot was with day old cast bullets and got a 3/4″ 50 Yd group .. 100 % function

second group shot with reject bullets (dimples on one side just ahead of the first driving band) 10 rds I had 2 failure to feed but surprisingly still got a 1.5″ group .. really expected worse because of the off center weighting .. Only shot them to confirm chrono and function..

getting great expansion into hard packed sand at 50 yds .. 550 + on most bullets… 80%+  weight retention
Hoping to PC another batch of good bullets this weekend and group Monday
            will report back

Just loaded up some 311247HP for My Krag.  When seated to the crimp groove the bullet functions through the magazine and is engraved by the rifling and the gascheck does not extend below the case neck.  I have half sized to 0.312 and half to 0.311.  With the abysmal bore on this rifle this may not make a difference but I’m going to try.  At any rate I think this bullet may be the best cast bullet ever made for the 30-40 Krag.  It just fits.  Are you sure you didn’t have the old soldier in mind when you designed this one?

I’m using WW metal and Ed Harris’ load of 16grs 2400.  Report to follow.

The cartridges feed from the magazine without a hitch.  Had only loaded 20 rds to try.  At 25yds the bullets sized 0.311 had all holes touching.  Bullets sized 0.312 made a slightly larger group.  At 50yds only had 0.312 bullets left.  Not a good group and showed some tipping.  Since this bullet is point on with the same load in the .30-06 this is likely due to the rather abysmal bore in this rifle.  I need to try again now that I have a 50yd sight setting and have an idea of what needs investigating.
