Would it be possible to see a WFN design with a larger meplat than the recently run 412-238 WFN… maybe a XWFN?
A nose length of approximately .400 with a meplat of .330, perhaps full diameter at the base for .1 with a tangential ogive? A near-max length to fit S&Ws and Rugers.
That modification to the existing 412-238 or even a double grease-groove design might generate some interest here for those wanting a larger meplat offering. The weight increase to the 250 grain weight range while maintaing case capacity would be welcomed in my mould options.
I’d like to stay at .411 for WW, since all my recent NOEs cast .0015-.002 over with my usual alloys, or with the additon of a few percentage points of tin to WW alloy.

Hopefully, Al can post a preliminary design if others voice interest.

Al has graciously offered to draw this up for viewing when he has time.
The suggested .330 meplate will be almost 50% larger than the flat nose of the 412-238 WFN, and approximately 67% larger than the current 412-224 GB design about to be cut… It should really increase the “slap factor” on marauding soda cans and water bottles, and make a dandy medium game stopper.

I would prefer a 0.412 diameter as the cylinder throats on my model 57 are 0.4116-7.  However I will provably be in on this one at 0.411.

Do we have a sign up list going yet? You can put me down for an RG2 with all pins.

What about a 360 160 WFN run in the .411 dia range? meplate of .333 roughly 80% and about 230gr range. Would be nice if the base band were taller. I am looking for a bullet for a 41 Special revolver, hunting and plinking.

                That’s exactly what I don’t have!
I want a PB, but the drawing is great.
I’ll be on any list developing from this one.

                Thanks for your help, Al.

Drawing looks good.  I also want a plain base in an RG2. I would prefer 0.412 over 0.411″, too.

Make it a .412 and I’m in. All my boolits for my 41 are sized .4115 and shoot GREAT.

I wanna. Sign me up for a 4C brass RG mold. GC is plus minus for me. Doesnt matter so long as it uses Hornady 416 checks.

These are typical results I get with NOE moulds using WW and adding 2% Tin.
                      The 432-265 (.4338) and the 454-265 (.4557) both drop nearly .002 over, so I expect a .411 will drop slightly over .412.
Are these typical results from others, or are you getting smaller bullets?
I’m thinking a .411 spec would minimize sizing, and still easily reach up to .412 if desired.

I had micrometer photos to post from my phone, but the attachments are too large.Maybe I can post them later, if necessary.

I would think that this one should a little larger than 411.  If so and it should I am in as it is drawn for an RG2.

Thank you,  cainttype for keeping the interest on this one going. If this comes to fruition soon I’ll drop the MP trueshot clone we’ve been waiting on. I never did think it had enough meplat.

I am hoping that this isn’t bad form but I’ve noticed in other forums you’ve asked to see different moulds.  Any interest in looking at a LBT  .411-250-WLN mould. The mould cast weight is set with Lyman #2 alloy instead of ww.
