Been shooting a Martini 30/40AI that I built back in the 60’s and have been moving from jacketed to cast, seems more fitting.  Got my new mold in and cast up a bunch, GC with aluminum.  Really wanted to try BLL, 1-step order hasn’t come in so got inventive.  Heated a bottle of LLA and mixed in a couple teaspoons of JPW, then a dollop of mineral spirits till nice and thin–not too scientific I know.  First I dip lubed, dried in a couple of hours.  Put thin mixture in a LLA bottle and dripped 5 drops on 50 bullets and tumble lubed, dried in an hour.  Loaded 5 sets of 3, 1gr spread from 16 to 20gr of 2400 and seated.  Set up at 50yd to start.  I “fouled” my clean bore with a few drops of lube on a patch.  No group exceeded .750″, seems to be 2 sweet spots, 17gr giving 1665 with a spread of 16fps, and 20gr giving 1836 with a spread of 5fps.  I enclose the targets for your perusal.  GW

Well, I guess not, pics are too big.  The 17gr load produced a .320″ group, 20gr gave me a .620″ group.  What’s next?  Police your brass and move to the 100yd line.

Sounds like a great start and pretty inventive on the lube.
I’ll be watching your results as i’m interested in this bullet too, plus using the BLL lube on it. I have some 230 gr. bullets lubed with BLL to try in my 35 whelen and waiting to be loaded now.

I shot 30 test rounds yesterday in a heavy bbl .308, 12 twist, 100 yds.

          24.0/5744
          23.7/4198
          28.7/3031
          30.0/4895
          31.0/4064

Best group was 4198, 2nd was 4895.  5744 shows promise but had a really wild flyer.

Bullets were gc’d with gator check and run thru a .310 sizer with with FWFL.  Tried a few earlier dip lubed with LLA/JLFW.  They work okay, too. More testing to follow….
