Al mold with soldered on lead

I purchased a 358009 mold from another member on castboolits and have found that it has spec size to almost grain of sand size bits of lead stuck to the mold cavities.

I tried casting hotter than normal with no luck

I have tried to get them off with a carpenters pencil with no luck

Currently I have kroil soaking in the cavities as someone suggested in an old post on Castboolits.

Any ideals on how to get these off?

Get the mould up to temp (380F to 420F).
and use a scraper made from a hard wood.
You may have to make 2 or 3 sizes.
It is lead / tin oxide embedded in the cavity, then molten lead
builds on it.
You will need to clean the lead off before you can try to
polish the oxide out.

If you would like you can send it back and will check it out
and see what we can do.

I appreciate the quick response I will try some more. I am left it soaking with the kroil while I Am working this week, maybe that will help.

Somebody mentioned that Kroil will work its way under the lead.

If i don’t make nay progress I will send it back for you to look at, thank you for the offer.
