Some here know that I build custom cast bullet rifles.
Well, up till now I have been searching for a decent rest that I can test said rifles on before delivery, and I have been altogether disappointed with the versatility of what I have now, and I never seem to bring the right rest to shoot the rifle from that I happen to be testing at the time. I figured that I needed to either make a whole pile of sand bags, or I needed to get myself a decent rest.
Well, I almost bought a bald eagle front rest, but decided to build my own from scratch instead.
This is the result, and I am absolutely sure it will serve my needs for the duration. It is made of 416SS and 6061T6 aluminum. No tolerance was spared. I made this as close to perfect as I possibly could and so far I am very pleased with the result.
      Enjoy:

This rest is so cool and classy that I’m at a loss for words. And that doesn’t happen often. As in ever.

Why yes I am sure Tim could round up several hundred potential receivers of this rest for the paltry sum of shipping…  😮
            LMAO  good one …
Yes,  it is very nice and when I was looking at it the threads (knobs) rolled smooth as butter of course that was Before he did some refinements.
            Totally nice work as usual

The final thing I did to this rest was to make a bikini like covering for those rubber pads, made of thin neoprene. It straps around the two paddles with velcro and fits like a glove. That should give it just the right combination of slide and grip.
No, I do not plan on going into production of these, nor to sell this one. It was a royal PITA to create and I can tell you with absolute certianty that the bald Eagle rests are a steal at that price.
However, this one is versatile enough that I can adapt it to practically ANY rifle that I might build or want to shoot groups with, and when I’m on the bench with only one rifle, the workmanship will speak for itself.

I got to try the rest today and I was not disappointed. This thing is a tank!
There was another feller there who was shooting a bald eagle like the one I almost bought, and it looked positively delicate compared to this one.

I confess I was worried about it being too tall, and about the stop ball staying put, and about the cradle and how it would interact with the stock, or if it was too tall. Turns out, all my fears were pointless. The hieght of the rest is a boon to testing heavy recoiling firearms (which I will be doing from time to time) as well as shooting lever guns or firearms with a magazine hanging out the bottom.
The cradle married the stock like a bag would, and held the forend securely but still allowed it to recoil straight back. The stop ball worked perfectly, and never moved after I had set it.
All things considered, I love this thing!!!
