      The list of expander plugs for use with the Lee Case Expander die is now posted.  There is a large assortment and there should be one there to tailor the neck tension perfectly for the sized diameter of your cast bullets.

      I have been using one for the last month or so in all of my high velocity tests with the 30 XCB bullet in .308W and 30-06 cases.  It has proven excellent.  Pretty hard to give a higher recommendation than “excellent”.  I will be getting several more for sure.  I highly recommend them as you can get several of the same caliber and tailor the neck tension for different cases and different diameter bullets such as the .308W with milsurp cases and commercial cases of varying neck thicknesses.

      Not saying these NOE expanders will supplant the Lyman M-dies and RCBS expanders I have but I will not be getting any more Lyman’s or RCBS.  Sorry about that but NOE has “built the better mouse trap”.  Any further M-die type expanders I get will be NOE’s.

        I have been watching the list grow and I already have my own list picked out to add to the next GroupBuy mold order when it comes off the mill very soon. (fingers crossed!)  8)

            Got my eye on three myself at the moment. Just have to see what else I “need” to make up a package.

              The thing is that Lyman instead of saying it had the better mouse trap – which it did and exploiting it by selling the expander stems individually once you had purchased your first die body instead choose to say you must buy the body again to get the next expander size – not something us cheap reloaders tend to want to do.

              – NOE’s design for an existing body and selling them individually makes much more economic sense – I must think now if I’m better off selling the Lyman M dies I have and just buying the Lee body and a cornucopia of NOE expanders.

                Now if only there were a some more powder through sizes.  Need a short 45 for 45acp and a 32 caliber one.  I have a couple hungry Single Sevens :)

                  Looking at the rifle expander plugs and I see R , RC , & LR suffix’s next to the dia. description..

                  LR = long neck
                  R  = rifle?
                  RC = what?

                  TIA

                      OK thanks Swede
                      I’ll be ordering up some expanders to ship with those .30 cal RD molds you are working on now..

                        Basic question, but I’ve never used an M die before, what is a good guideline for a starting point? I’ve got the NOE 311299 that I’m planning on using in .30-06 for M1 Garand, M1903/M1903A3, M1917 as well as .308 in an M1 Garand, M14 and a Rock River LAR8 Varmint model. Sized to .310 and lubed with NRA formula 50/50 Alox / Beeswax. Would the .311 30R be the best place to start?
