My broadband coverage has not been the best as of late and deer season has started so my internet time has been a bit thin. I think I have caught up on my reading and want to cover some of the general questions especially after talking with Swede several times about this project.
In a nutshell any Braztech roll stamped round barrel, blued or stainless, 16″ or 20″, is drilled and tapped for the P892 base except for the rifles chambered in 480 Ruger. The Amedeo roll stamped rifles (pre-Braztech) are not drilled and tapped. The easiest way to identify a Braztech rifle, if you cannot read the roll stamp (which is pretty easy), is the pigtail bolt safety.
Pumas were build by Amedeo and Braztech, the same rules above apply. Braztech manufactured Pumas, except the 480 Rugers, were drilled & tapped for the base.
In speaking with Swede, he felt the per unit price would be approximately $35. I ran a poll on my Rossi Rifleman forum to see if R92 owners would buy them at this price and so far the answers have been 100% “YES” so I don’t see the need to repeat the poll here. That price is comparable to just about any aftermarket lever gun scout mount you look at so not much more need be said.
Some asked about shipping to non-US addresses. This is something that I’m trying to help Swede determine. A mount isn’t a restricted item but depending on other factors it might require a export license on NOE’s part.
Swede has found a source for the picatinny rail stock that is of the aluminum grade he wants and from this stock he will cut the Rossi base. The stock will need to have the lower radius machined to match the barrel tapper & then the screw holes drilled. He is going to send them out to be anodized and when they return, package them with the proper torx screws.
In conversation with Swede he told me that he has committed to a 80 unit run with an approximate 75%/25% mix of black/clear anodized finish so we are on, one way or the other. This is going to be good chance to Scout your Rossi R92 if you have been wanting to do it but haven’t been able to get the base!

I have five of them that I hunt hard. When I saved the picture I titled it “bone collectors” and they are. This brace of rifles in the last three years has taken over 200 big game animals! Left to right is my 357 Mag, 44 Mag (Puma), 45 Colt, 454 Casull, and 480 Ruger (Puma). I went through a lot of trouble to scout the 480 Ruger in that it needed to be D&T and a Rossi base modified. I load them with my cast bullets, push the heck out of them, and all except the 357 Mag are 200 yard whitetail & hog hunters.
