This one is quickly becoming one of my favorite .30 Cal. plain base bullets.
Fantastically accurate in my 30-30 T/C Pistols ( both 10” and Super 14 ) , Handi Break Open 30-30’s, 308 Win. and 30-06 rifles.
Certainly not my favorite hunting bullet in .30 cal., but for paper punching and training my grandson, Trevor, it is hard to beat. I really like this design because the nose diameter is large enough to offer good support in most .30 cal. Rifle barrels. My particular mould cast a .302 “ dia. nose with air cooled wheel weights. That is a very important point to consider when searching for top flight accuracy. Many .30 cal. moulds struggle to get a .298” or .299 “ dia. nose.
In the past few years, I’ve begun to gravitate to more .30 cal. plain base bullet designs. Gas checks have almost 2X’d in price during the past few years. Not having to install a gas check saves money and time when processing the bullets in preparation for loading. If one can get themselves away from the temptation to shoot magnum velocities and use the speed zone of 1,100 – 1,400 fps in the many .30 cal. Rifles, this bullet design has great potential.
Can this bullet shoot well ?
This is 50 yards, three rounds, 30-30 Win. Handi rifle, 7.2 grs. B’Eye.
If you have not tried shooting .30 cal. Plain base bullets, maybe it is time to give them a try.
