I don’t have any dimensions for the Lyman 250gr GC “Devastator”, but it is Lyman bullet #429640 and item #2650640. See: http://www.lymanproducts.com/lyman/bullet-casting/mould-details.php?entryID=26 .

I think it would be great to have one of these that would cast at both .432″ for most .44 Magnum handguns, as well as a .434″ version for Marlin Micro-Groove rifles. I believe Al wouldn’t have a problem incorporating both sizes into the same group buy. He could probably do both plain base and gas check versions too. The sizes and weights could be worked out pretty well I believe too.

I think it would also be nice to do a 359640 version of this fine design for .38/.357 shooters too.

I would definitely be interested in an rg mold for this design.

I haven’t been able to come up with the actual dimensions on the 429640 yet. Since it casts a HP of about 250gr, as a solid/FP it would have to be about 270gr.

If somebody has a few they would be willing to send me so I could forward those to Al, so he could get the dimensions, I would appreciate it. I would be willing to send you some money to cover your costs, postage, etc.

                  Thanks,

                  Dave

Glen Fryxell discussed the Lyman #429640 Devastator bullet in his book “From Ingot To Target, A Cast Bullet Guide For Handgunners”. In Chapter 13, “Casting Hollow Pointed Bullets”, Glen said of the Lyman #429640 Devastator: “This is arguably the single most useful cast bullet on the market today for the American handgun hunter”. He also had other comments and load data.

Al, I do not have an original Lyman mold but I have a mold which cast a solid version and I could send you samples if it would help.
