First of all thank you Mr Nelson for making this mold become a reality!
This afternoon I turned 25lbs of lead into projectiles with me new 5 cavity mold and managed to get a coat of Hitek red copper on them all too.
A trick I had to employ to get the mold running quick without overheating and for the big boolits to solidify was to rest the mold on a wet rag after every pour. Once I did that the big perfectly formed bullets were raining out of the big 5 cavity and none needed any persuasion to fall out. Extremely happy with the mold and thanks for making it!
I’ll post more pictures soon when they are loaded and when i try them out.

Nice looking bullets kitika!  Let us know how they end up working, and what load you end up using.  I need to post another video lobbing them with a 12″ 45-70 Encore barrel with a Trailboss powder load.  I really want to find some time to load some up for my sharps.

Thanks cornmastah! And thankyou for helping me get the drawing done on this design so it could be made! I’ve got the final coat on the bullets and they look even better now! :) I’ll get another few pictures soon when I get a chance to do some loading and hopefully some shooting done sometime  next week. What model is your sharps? I’ll share my results with you they might help you out get a starting point for accuracy.

I have a Pedersoli 1874 with a Montana Vintage Arms tang sight.  I believe I was going to start with 25 gr of A5744 for a rough estimate of 1200 fps.  I’ve had good luck with 5744 powder in smokeless loads that still have air space (ie: no filler).  About how fast are you going to try to get yours going?  What powder?

I’ll be trying for 1400fps but anything over 1300 and accurate is good. I’ve read a lot about 5744 but we can’t get that here unfortunately. I have Rl10, Varget on hand. All out of H4198 which is my usual go to powder. Mines a pedersoli aswell but I couldn’t afford the Montana arms sight I’ve got a cheap pedersoli sight on mine which is sufficient or now but repeatabilty isnt the best.

As a side note, isn’t it awesome how the bullets practically jump out of the mold?

It sure is! I want to replace all my molds with new slick sided molds now! Just need more people to jump on the group buys that are in the works.

Hey kitika, when do you think you will have a chance to test it out in your sharps?

I’m loading today and I’ll be at the 100yd range tomorrow morning and hopefully at the 300yd range next weekend. I’ve been kept busy fixing cars and trailers this week! Had no time for fun at the range!

Loaded up 5 different loads to try out tomorrow for a total of 40rds I’ll see how my shoulder holds up!
Oal for slight pressure inserting the loaded round into the pedersoli chamber was 2.82 if my memory is correct.

So had an okay day at the range got an all touching 4 shot group with the first load and everything was abit so so after that with me getting tired and knowingly pulling a few shots making the groups crappy. I really need a proper sandbag rest for both the front and back for doing these experiments! I only had my range bag to lean on unfortunately as my usual shooting sticks don’t work on these range… The shells with filler had a couple of flat primers so there was pressure spikes! Do not use those loads! The 32gn load looked to just seal the shell in the chamber and got no blowby on the cases so I think it would be safe to go up a grain or two still to get abit more velocity.
All in all I’ll be loading more of the 31gn load to try at longer range and see how it goes! Very happy with the bullet so far looks to be very promising and the hi-tech left the barrel mirror clean.

I ended up picking up another one of these molds so I can cast those heavies a little faster.  Also going to try a wet towel to cool the molds and get a good rhythm

Yeah not a bad idea having another mold if you are going to shooting a heap of these. Might need two lead pots to keep enough lead flowing for them both!

Down at the long range today just fired 7 rnds and got 5 in about an eight inch group at 300yds shooting off cross sticks and two that were called flyers that hit a little low but dead straight. It’s a very blowy day today and the slick sided 500gns didn’t feel it all over 300yds very happy so far I’ll see how it goes at 600yds.

Had a chance to shoot these at 1000yds yesterday for the first time. Once I got on target I dropped 1 of my 7 scoring shots off the target which I thought was pretty good for my first attempt at that range load was 31gr of Rx10 doing around 1220fps. The winds were very gusty blowing around 30ks or so the weather man said most was coming from behind me but it was swirling around quite abit and the bullets seemed to hold the wind very well. I’ve got a Quigley shoot this weekend so I’ll be giving these bullets and rifle a work out.
