Wanting a .357/.358 truncated cone, hollow point, bevel base, with no lube groove for use in 380, any interest?

Do you have some dimensions so we can draw up a model?  Figure out how deep to make the hp, how long to make the nose, how wide of meplat, etc…

I have been interested in an HTC 380 bullet, don’t care if it’s TC or RF but just as an idea I dont see why modifying the current TL358-100-RF design wouldn’t work. Removing the grooves and adding a bevel base would keep it nearly the same, about 100 grain FN and 90 grain HP. Can use the same HP, FN and cup point pins that are manufactured for that mold currently.

Crude MS paint modification of existing drawing for attention.

I used a lee 120gr tc mold, took .080″ off with a mill, it drops at 100gr, i will get a drawing made and post it up.

Yeah, let’s take a look at both of these designs.

I think I drew this up to the specs you had on your drawing.  Might need to change the hollow point a tad.

I failed to draw the bevel base on my drawing, bb seem to fill a little better without smearing. May add .020 to rear as a bevel, might compensate for the loss of weight in the hp. Im not totally opposed to a rnhp, but my rn seem to have feeding issues in a tcp and lcp without seating deeper.

Assuming your modified 120 grain has been functioning well, if you have ever tried the lee 356-95-rf did you have issues? The lee 95 grain profile in my wifes 238 seated shorter than a certain length causes an occasional hangup that is fixed by a longer oal. I thought the TC nose profile might be more forgiving than the RF but I also like the larger meplat. Possibly a middle of the road with the TC profile, shorten the nose by a little to bring the meplat to ~.23 -.24″ and add some length to the base to keep weight?

Regardless of the final profile I will be happy to have an HTC 380 mold, just throwing around some ideas to get people looking. So far we seem to be the only three looking to fill this void in our mold collections.

I have not tried the rf, just this tc and a rn i have no objections to the modification that you laid out, reason i listed the way i did was because i know its working in so many guns.

Well I didnt get to run a few magazines of the RF design through her gun like I wanted to this evening. I wanted to compare because last night I made some dummy rounds by seating the lee 120 bullets into 380 cases and hand cycled them in her 238. No matter if I rode the slide, dropped it with the release or anything it was flawless. The only thing I found is having to seat the bullets deeper than her barrel would plunk them due to magazine length. I would still like to look into taking maybe .02″ off the nose of the bullet but I’m sold on this profile in a 380 bullet.

I have no problem taking .02 off the fromt, adding it to the back as a bevel for ease of seating, it will help recover the weight of the hollow point also, just gotta get some more people on board so we can get it rolling

we can change the hollow point to add more weight or take away more weight as needed
