I’m sure I’m not the only lunatic with the 6.5-06 that has a 1:8 twist. Mine puts 3-Sierra 142gr BTHP
bullets in one ragged hole at 200yds…and that’s at a modest 2760fps. Now, I’m thinking that the BC of a heavier, and therefore longer bullet, would be good medicine for any critter in North America that doesn’t eat hunters that it encounters.  I welcome any thoughts on this matter!

        Gy,
:)  Great idea for the 6.5 x 55 family I would think, as well as the 260 Rem. But having the smaller cousin the 6.5 Grendel I personally would need a Lighter version. hmm vision of this would be very interesting to say the least.

          Sgt Mike,
I have an LR-260 that is showing great promise with the Hornady 129’s. The limiting factor is obviously the COL due to both throat and magazine constraints.  The 6.5-06 is on a Rem 721 action with a Douglas 28″ full bull with integral muzzle break.  Since I am nowhere near max with the 142’s, I think I can safely get 2650+ with a 160-170. Btw, I live and shoot at 5500-6000′ elevation in the four corners area and the humidity is mean 12%.  All this does very well to keep velocity higher than a load manual will state.
