I just noticed that there is possibility to take mold .222/220. Can I please chance my order to that diameter. Thanks

Thanks, Al, for making the larger size available…. Just to make sure everyone who has ordered is aware of that, I will personally send them a PM….

Airgun barrels vary widely in diameter, and bullets are less forgiving than pellets…. You want a good fit, with the nose of the bullet close to the groove diameter, and the driving band, ideally, about 0.001″ over…. Please slug your barrel and change your order if you need the larger size…. Note that Al has put the smaller size, with a 0.217″ nose and 0.219″ driving band behind each order, as the default…. If you want to change to the larger size, please post here….

Note, in my PM to you all, I said 31 gr., that was incorrect, the weight remains at 30 gr. nominal, as stated….

                Bob

Here’s some information, I just went out and measured the ID of the lands of several rifles using a set of precision pins. The measurements are good.  As usual, mileage may vary. You should be able to add 2-4 thousands to come up with the groove diameter.

                  .210  for Edgun and Cricket

.212  for LW barrels in Cyclone, 10 14″ barrels and a Davis MRod with a LW 12MM od barrel, and all Hatsans, 5 I think.

.214  for Spa P12, M20, and recent model Sam Yang.

.216  for FDPCP if anybody is brave? enough to shoot it.

.217  for all Crosman barrels I could find.

                  .218  for a 392 pump Crosman

Bob Sterne added that his TJ’s barrel measures .213 lands – .217 groove.

If 2 to 4 thousands is added to the land diameter, you should be real close on the groove diameter. Regards, Tom

Thanks, Tom, for taking the time to make those measurements of the land diameters for a wide assortment of barrels…. Much appreciated…. Did you do the measurements at the muzzle?…. If so, that would be the land measurement at the choke, if any, right?….

I would think that in lieu of measuring the groove diameter, I would add 0.004″ to the land diameter…. that is only 0.002″ per side…. The LW barrels, according to their website, are 0.215″ land and 0.221″ groove, a difference of 0.006″…. Without actually measuring the groove diameter, and from my experience with the 7/16″ OD Crosman barrels as used in the 13XX and 22XX series airguns, I would order the larger size for those Crosman barrels…. You can always make a cast bullet smaller by sizing it, you can’t make it larger….

If anyone has a Marmot Militia barrel (made by TJ’s), they are even smaller than the ones that TJ’s sell in house, and in addition I understand they are choked…. I have heard a groove diameter of only 0.213″…. That may be a challenge with these bullets, but that barrel is intended only for JSB pellets anyway….

All measurements were done at the muzzle.  The choke seems to be an inconsequential factor for this measurement.  Several barrels I couldn’t feel the difference from muzzle to breech.  I would have had to use precision pins measured by the 10 thousands instead of thousands.  That would be a big kit.
                      Regards, Tom

thank you  Al and Bob… and darn it now I need to come up with a few more green stamps…

The .222/220 version also just happens to match S.A.A.M.I. well enough that I bet can use some of the .22 s-l-lr barrels… and  The turned down Marlin MG .22 lr barrel I have is .22 bore, heck it may even work in the turned down .22 WMR barrel also (maybe cig paper patched)… I think  the CZ .22 lr Barrels are tight enough also…Most match type barrels and quite a few production barrels tend to be ~.221-.2215 bore also… Lija/Shilen/Dad’s rem 512…

long term  I have a 26″ Beretta .22lr barrel that is choked all the way down to ~.212-.213 (bore) that the .220/.222 should be just about perfect for…

                        So,

Please modify my order I now would like one  2 cavity .217/.219 AND one .220/.222  2 cavity…
