      I’m sure this will open up a huge can of worms. Comments? Thoughts? Idea’s?

      I have been talking with Al about developing a .225 cast bullet mold in the 55-60gr but with no grease grooves, and in a spire point boat tail base design.

      Here’s my theory; IF all things being equal, a cast 55 grain boat tail cast bullet (powder coated in my case) would fly as well as a commercial jacketed bullet of the same design.

      The only real issue I see is hardness. So, that is my idea.

      Who would be in for a .225 boat tail mold in the 55-60 grain weight?

            teemu, “Yes sir, something similar to the pics would be great. Unless someone proves me wrong, I think a powder coated boat tail cast bullet may revolutionize the shooting industry.

            Oh, Al, I also want to explore a .312 cast bullet in the same fashion. Something ~165 grains would be great. All the Garand and M-14 shooters would go crazy over these.

                          Don’t know about that..Just interested mold. My propellant is compressed air so those velocities is under mach and I won’t coated my bullets.Only use lube when size bullets

                          But it would be nice if this gets interested fellows and move ahead

                            Been a while since I looked at coatings as it doesn’t give me anything I don’t have already and it seems just another faff on.

                            If it helps cast at velocity with ordinary alloys then that would pique my interest some.

                            I get 2400 fps with accuracy and no leading from my 303s and other calibres with a tough not hard, smidgen of copper, alloy at 18bhn, careful handloading and bullet quality control.

                              I drew this from one of my M193 bullets. The grease groove is .005 deep and is in the crimping groove location of the M193.

                              I can re-draw to what ever diameter you’d like and/or remove the crimping groove.

                                Looks good for me that design ,if wider possibility is available at least .225. Hope there will be options fot diameter if this goes further.

                                  I know the OP wants no lube groves for pc,but I favor the design that teemu posted or at least one lube grove so there is a drive band. To help stabilize the bullet in a few different rates of twist. Lot’s of different.22 calibers out there

                                    I like the Teemu boattail, but I would have preferred both a lube groove and a crimp groove. But then again I shouldn’t be getting into casting for the .223…  ???
