Got one of the Pat Marlin 22T Checkmaker tools.  This makes a taller than normal check for the 22’s and I wanted to give it a try.

I don’t have any good flat annealed Cu or Alu coil strips as yet, so had to try some cut beercan (0.004″) just to try some, it was a real effort pouring that pint of Fosters down my neck to free up a can..

Just a rough idea, painted-side-out to show them more clearly.  I really do need some nicely cut annealed strips, be that in Cu or Alu, will order some. They will surely cut neater than these curvy bits of un-annealed Alu beercan and seat more accurately. Right now, they are springy and curvy, hence not flat, and they are not doing justice to these fine tools.

Also, my H&I sizer die, it needs a wider taper at the opening edge of the die, so’s the check would sit better before using the Lyman Gas-Check Seater. Lyman didn’t put enough taper at the mouth opening of the standard die.

Working with the itty-bitt 22’s and having 10 thumbs is… hard… NOE, I would dearly love you to make more of those bullet gripper tools.

Will update how this goes once I get the check material sorted. I just wanted to show the taller aspect to these new checks.

(trying Hornady-checked and Plain-Based versions of this NOE boolit in a 22 Hornet this weekend)
