HI teemu…. The problem is the availability of barrels of suitable twist rate…. Even a 40 gr. will require about a 12″ twist, longer even faster…. If you don’t think that is an issue, I can send some to Al…. I would love to see some development in .224 cal (.226 driving band), there are benefits for long range to be had with the limited operating pressures we have available in the smaller calibers…. My current designs would go all the way to 73 gr. in .22 cal…. but you would really have to spin it fast !!! …. Hmmmmmmmmmm, Lothar Walther go all the way down to a 7″ twist….
First quick look it would appear I can go up to a 66 gr. bullet 3.5 cal long at that twist…. Have a look at the .257 cal. 100 gr. to see what the proportions are….
Yup. I see it and I’m in for that also if it goes group buy. I have 8″ twist in my .257 and one NOE’s mold 120gr Spitzer which is 1.000 long if I recall correct..And holes on paper was round as it could be. I have already few .225 molds which are 60 and 62 grains..Just ordered them few days a go. I am interested lets say 40-50grains .225 at this moment. There is on heaviest .225 on NOE’s list about 80grains .225 if I recal correct but out of stock
Well I try different alloys. Usually pure lead and 2 % Sn but some barrels like harder alloys then I mix it diffent way,adding more Sn or some other metals. In Finnis language it is called kirjasinmetalli but I dont know English word…Could be linotype or some like that.. They are letters from old printing machines.
I size my bullet with dry silicone spray.That helps keep barrel clean.That .257 barrel has air rifle rifling. Those are not that high as real guns rifling….And I havent yet purchased that .223 barrel…Hard to find long blanks..LW has match grade blank called BigBull, but it cost like almost 500€..
