Spent a few hours with the 323 mold yesterday. I had done 3 break in heatings the day before. Anyway, I fully expected the mold to cast smaller with my 1 in 20 alloy as Swede says his molds are sized for wheel weight alloy. Instead, it turns out mine casts at .324. Sizing the bottom band to .322  which I need (LEE nose first push through die), did not produce any detectable fins. I’m struggling with wrinkled bullets, but hope the second casting will cure that. I suspect finding the right alloy temperature will fix that, as all my other single cavity molds are quite a bit smaller and handle heating and cooling differently.

Just finished another casting session with the 323 mold. It’s fairly worked out now. I had to pre-heat the mold to 300+ degrees on a hot plate, run the alloy to 800 and pressure feed the mold with the sprue plate in direct contact with the spout of my Cast Master furnace, and cast as fast as possible with no examining of the bullets except for fully filled out bases before they’re dropped. Completely different from my usual temperatures and procedures. Still more experimenting to come, but I’m slowly learning this different mold.
