I recently received a new mould from Al at NOE, for the 88 gr. FN in .357 cal…. It is an RG4 mould, which comes with sets of pins to cast Flat Nose, Cup Point and Hollow Point slugs for all 4 cavities…. https://noebulletmolds.com/site/product-category/355-9mm/359-88-rf-s2
Here is what it looks like…. I only cast the HP version, which weighs 82.9 gr. and drops at 0.360″…. I sized to 0.357″ before testing, as larger than that was snug on loading in the TJ’s 26″ twist barrel on my .357 cal BRod…. The gun is regulated at 2200 psi, and delivers 140-150 FPE at that pressure….

In addition I tested the .35 cal NOE Magnum pellets…. They also came in an RG4 mould, with 4 sets of base pins, to create different weight pellets as shown below…. I had never had any success with the flat based version, so I didn’t cast any of those…. The head diameter drops at 0.356″, so doesn’t need any sizing…. The skirt is, of course, larger….

As a control, I also tested the 81 gr. JSB Exact RN pellets…. This was the debut for my new LabRadar unit (complements of the AirGun Guild)…. I had targets set up at 50 and 100 yards, and shot 5 shot groups at 50, and then 10 shot groups at 100 yards, to get a feel for the accuracy of the different pellets and how the 83 gr. HP compared…. All shots were Chronographed, and on examining the data I found that it was rock solid out to 50 yards, a few shots were dropped at 75 yards, and the results were spotty, with a large SD, at 100 yards…. In future, instead of setting the distances to 10, 25, 50 , 75 and 100 yards, I will set the default ranges on the LabRadar to 10, 30, 50, 70 and 90 yards….
