Thought I’d throw this out and see if there’s any interest, I’d like to have a 5 cavity in each weight.

I first came up with this design three years ago, it was based on the Lee 125-RF.  The Lee was very accurate in a Rossi lever rifle, so I went to work.  After tweaking a few dimensions I had two great shooters for the Rossi, and a nice surprise that the 120 is awesome in my 380’s:

120-RF:  This has a plain base & narrow base band, but the same nose as the 145 and 160.  It shoots light loads in 357, but not magnum pressures.  The Rossi loved it over some HP38, Red Dot or Bullseye.  I should work with other similar powers too.  I shoot it over a light load of HP38 in my Sig and CZ 380’s too, it’s very accurate with nice recoil that’s a little less snappy.  Cut at .360 originally, it might work better at .361 with soft alloy then sized to .360.

145-RF GC: This is the shortest I could get this gas check design and keep the same nose.  It shoots great with gas checks and does well without the checks.  I have been shooting this and the 120 for a few years now with excellent results.  This one does well in 357 revolvers too, the 120 didn’t seem to shoot as well in revolvers.

160-RF: This is an the latest iteration, designed to provide a flexible design for a Henry lever rifle (it didn’t like the 120).  This is very accurate in the Henry and revolvers, should be in Marlins too, likely in the Rossi’s as well.  The diameter stretched to .361 and I size to .360 for great results.  The reason for that is when casting with soft (BHN 8-10) alloy a slightly larger diameter seems to ensure a full diameter and consistent bullet after sizing. I’ve been shooting a soft version over 12 grains of 2400 in the Henry with no leading and great accuracy.  Over 4.5 grains of Red Dot it’s a real shooter and my daily target bullet/load.  This would make a great hollow point, maybe stretched to 170 or as is.  I’m working through some slight leading with the 2400 in a S&W 6-inch model 28 to see if a slightly harder alloy works better.  The light load is awesome in it and my Security Six.  This would do well with a gas check too, but I prefer a plain base bullet that works whenever possible.

The 160 design is pasted below:  I’d like to have these in a NOE 5 cavity, if there’s enough interest.

I just realized this looks a lot like the 360-154-WFN in the active buy section.  My version has a somewhat shorter nose and loads to an OAL of 1.570 or a little less.

At least it looks like that to me!  Based on how this one shoots, that should be a very accurate design.

        The 120 version isn’t listed, it’s awesome in a 380, if there’s any interest I can post a design.  Otherwise I think the 145 and 160 are covered.  ;D ;D ;D

357 Shooter, possibly you might have some interest in the one I’m trying to generate some interest in. I had the mold but lost it. I used it in 9MM, 38 and 357 with and without the gas check. I have a link posted to Ranchdog’s drawing.

Thanks.  I took a look, but don’t think it’s what works with what I shoot.  The bullet that I posted I have in a 3 cavity and it’s awesome.  I was hoping to get it done in a 5 cavity.

My lever rifle(s) tend to be more accurate with a smaller meplat, and contrary to most of the designs they really like a secant ogive too.  My 357 revolvers seem to prefer these same design points too.  I avoid tumble lube these days too.

The lever likes a crimp groove too, so it’ll feed more smoothly.

Added: Looks like NOE can do a conventional lube groove too.  Nice looking bullet, just not what I need.

I’ve been wanting a hollow point version of the Lee 125gr RF.  Something like this in a RG4 design would be wonderful.

Yes, I would love for NOE to make something like this in the 120-145 grain range!  LBS
