You guys have helped me in the past and I am here asking for heal again. I just came home from the gun show and I pickup us a 450 Bushmaster (Ruger Bolt Action). I want to cast for it and I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion of a mold that would work well with it? I am just going to play on the range with it and blow up milk jugs.

Thanks for any help that you send my way!

Looks like this would be an excellent bullet, however for hogs a heavy hollow point, or SWC design should work well. But not sure about expansion, but a bullet that big will let alot of liquid out fast!
There is such a large selection of .454 molds from so many makers, it would be almost impossible to say “that one”!
If Your Casting, (hopefully why your here) then You can Never go wrong with a “Keith” Style, semi-wadcutter!
30 or so years ago, got a nice 4 point Elk, with a single shot from a 210 grain Keith style .41 Magnum 6 1/2″ Ruger Blackhawk, at a distence of aprox. 40 yards. He presented me with a nice broadside shot to his left shoulder, and dropped  like a sack of sand!
It was the dumbest luck I’ve ever had. Last Day of hunt, 2 hours daylight left, walking back to my truck, stopped to (relieve myself), set my Rifle down on a stump, dropped my pants, and the Elk walks out of the brush, Stops, a looks right in my direction. My Rifle is 10 feet from me, my pants are down, and I had my Blackhawk, inside my coat. After what seemed like forever, the bull turned his head, in the other direction, (he hadn’t seen me!) I was able to get it out and as I pulled the hammer back, he turned,,, Bang! And it was done! All with my pants down!  Only Elk I ever got!
Sorry long story, but that Elmer Keith bullet, punched right through that Elks left shoulder, through the boiler room , and broke the right shoulder and out the other side!  I used the same bullet design in .44 magnum to put down a Hereford bull that was suffering from “wooden tounge” and tetanus. The original plan was a nice simple “head” shot, but he was Not cooperating, and becoming dangerous, so I decided to go for a heart shot.  At the moment I pulled the trigger he “tried” to spin away from me and my nice angled away heart shot turned into a Belly, back of ribcage, angled shot, and that 280 grain Keith bullet didn’t care one bit, and made it all the way to the prize, and who knows how much further, cause it came out the front, and I wasn’t going to look for it anyway, but he was just as dead. :P  well good luck however works for you

I’d give this bullet a go, it’s what I use with my 460 revolver:

I wonder if it would feed fine with the wide meplat though.
