Would anyone else be interested in seeing a gas check spire point mold in .453 similar to the 502-375-SP design, scaled down and perhaps purposely lightened further to eek out some more velocity.

I would. I am a sucker for those spire points–they just look so dang cool. What bullet weight you thinking?

Me too, but if possible atleast .454 diameter… Need to get room for sizing. Also depends what weight it should be?

Could a .454 in 460 s&w with spire point function ballistically or even be possible to cast at 250gr or even lighter? I’m not a bullet designer but I realize the primary benefit of the 460 is velocity and that going heavy would limit that major reason for having a 460.

Maybe I’m off base but I saw the 500 spire point mold and thought, why not the 460, but make it light so it makes sense in the 460.

To start with, it’s extremely hard to keep the weight down on a 45 cal bullet and still have any bearing area to guild it down the bore. The best I could do with this concept was 270 gr.

If you can get a mold going, it would be best to offer a .452 and a .454 in the same run.

Is this what you guys are thinking?

Hmmmmm, this looks like it would be fun in a muzzle loader sabot as well as my 460 mag. I would be fine with the above bullet in .454. That would give me some room if I cast with soft lead. Count me in for one.

I kept shorting the mold and forgot to rename it after the final time. It should be called the .452 X .80

We have the tooling for this one in house.
Could take it out to .460

It depends on what your looking for in bullet proformance.

The NOE SP, will penetrate hard objects better at closer ranges. The bullet that I designed will loose less velocity and have more energy at longer ranges.

Thank you for the contributions. I’m liking the look of that NOE 260 gr. and the 230 gr. and the 168 gr., ha. Definitely would purchase those.

I think at this point I’m leaning towards either the 230 or the 168 with a powder coat for maximum laser beam silliness.

If this is still active I’d be interested in the NOE design with the sharp point. I’d be interested in the 230 or 260gr preferably have both.
