I finally found a cast load that works well in my 1944 SMLE #4Mk1. The 311414 no matter the powder and charge weight just wouldn’t group better than buckshot. I slugged the bore and found the diameter to be .312″ after a sampling of .314 diameter 299’s from a fine soul on castboolits i found the load my rifle likes.
.314 sized 299 clones from my first NOE mold a 2cav brass 316-202,
in front of 24.5gr of H4198
ignited by CCI standard large rifle primerI figure a 3″ group at 100y from a WWII british basic infantry rifle will put groceries on the table in fine style.
Y’all have a great day
