Just acquired a Henry Single Shot Brass in 44 Mag. I would like to try bullets from the RD432-243. Debating the plain base vs. GC mold or possibly shoot as cast. Does anyone have experience with this mold in terms of sizing or loads? I am not looking for magnum performance. The TL design seems like a way to produce bullets in quantity without too much difficulty.

Maybe others will chime in but I’ve been suspicious of tumble lubing rifle bullets.  The lube has to be sustainable for the entire barrel length of you’ll get leading in the last few inches of the barrel.

I used 45/45/10 and tumble lubed some 432-265 with a gas check but I still got leading with full 44 magnum loads.  When I switched to dip lubing the leading stopped.  These were properly sized bullets to the rifles groove diameter.

I have been able to shoot a regular lubed non-gas checked bullet up to 1400 fps with no leading but after that it starts.

Truthfully I would try powder coating long before I gave tumble lubing a try again.

All the 432-243 bullets I have loaded up thus far are plain base that I powder coated. I have the mold that casts 2 gc and 2 pb. I didn’t do anything with the gc bullets yet. You can still use conventional lube in TL bullets. I have lubed TL bullets myself pan lubing with a 50/50 mix of carn red and BAC. The lube stays in the grooves quite well. I am just not a fan of tumble lubing.

With a good conventional lube, powder coating or Hitek coating I believe you can get by with a PB without issue even with some hot loads. I just got the 2 pb 2 gc mold because in some cases I would rather use a gas check for extra insurance, especially with hotter loads.
