Ballistic Gel!!!  Al was gracious enough to buy some ballistic gel so I could do some gel tests.  Since it is now in our hands, what would you like us to test?  I will try to test the things you guys need/want as long as I have a firearm in that caliber or have a friend who does.  Taking requests now…  Please include the following in your request:
      1. cartridge (ie: .44 mag, .357 mag, 500 S&W)
      2. bullet mold & alloy (also powder coating or traditional lube)
      3. particular load (primer, powder type, and powder charge)
      4. firearm (if we have it we can try–or the closest thing to it)

      Current test list:
      -311-247 hollowpoint (ww, 20:1, and also 11bhn alloy) ~ 950fps
-Keith bullet with a Keith load (11bhn alloy) ~ 900fps
      -TLC313-150-RF (pure lead with a little tin) ~ 950fps
      -HTC 310 170 HP (wheelweights waterdropped) ~ 1800fps
      -460 350RF HP (pure with copper, waterdropped) ~ 1400fps
-500 S&W monster bullet with super deep hollow point

        TLC313-150-RF

I would like to see the hollow point tested in subsonic 300 BO, powder coated. I am thinking this will expand at subsonic speeds. I am running mine close to pure lead with a little tin to help with fill out.

It would be nice to know since the all copper bullets for subsonic expansion are so expensive.

Ballistics Gel is temperature sensitive…. There is a procedure for “calibrating” it using a BB as a particular velocity and measuring the penetration…. You probably don’t care, but that is the only way to make sure you can compare the results of tests done at two different times….

HTC 310 170 HP doing about 1800fps would be awesome to see. The .460 350RF HP doing about 1400fps would be very cool too. 8)

deep hollow point on the 310-170?  alloy?  what alloy on the 460-350RF hp?

Yeah the deep hollow point on the 170 but the cup point would be interesting too for comparison! I use a pretty hard alloy for my 30cals something like water dropped wheel weights might be equivalent? The 460 would be abit softer I use roofing lead with abit of copper mixed in and water dropped.

I noticed there is on last call that .502-700-HTC deep HP. Just for fun and also interested see how bad boy that gun is can You shoot that
S&W 500 and use that bullet. Not know about reloading on firearms so not going to suggest any load. Thanks
