Participant::Ben, I use this in my 303-Brit, 30-30 Win, 45-70 and 357 Mag. From low-slow to max-vel loads, I have to say, it beats store-bought lubes hands-down, no leading whatsoever so far (granted we still size appropriately with the right alloy hardness and fit gas-checks where prescribed).
Fantastic lube, I need use no other for smokeless loads. I melt it into my Lubri-Sizer, but it also pan-lubes well.
If it weren’t for 3500+ miles of water I’d buy you a few pints.

I’m glad that you’re enjoying the lube. It is my all time favorite bullet lube. There are thousands of shooters now who use the lube and have good things to say about the lube.
Thanks again,
Ben

Participant::I thought I’d just throw this in for fun since its what I rely on. My personal “Tumble Lube” version of 45/45/10.
I made up the usual 45/45/10 (Xlox/Beeswax/Mineral Spirits) and, as usual, it works well. Then while reading on the forum, someone added powdered graphite.
I added about 1 ounce to my 45/45/10 and now I have “Black Magic”. I haven’t shot anything with this solution, but it sure is slick. Anyone else try this?

I just finished reading the 39 page thread on cast boolits on the 45/45/10 recipe. I was wandering
about the results of the Delux Liquid X-Lox~45-45-10 from white Label compare to making your own? Why is it sold in 32 oz? does it dry the same as the original recipe? does it keep the leading down as the original recipe?wouldn’t 32 oz be an almost life time supply?
graphite added to the mix seems like it would be super slick let us know how it turns out or if it even makes a difference.

Participant::Thanks for sharing your recipe with us Ben. I had gone back and read most of the topics that you linked for the cast boolit site and followed your recipe exactly without any deviation and it all turned out fine. I have an old crock pot that I make lube in and heated the Red “N” Tacky in it while melting my waxes separate. I then added the STP and Dexron to the hot Red “N” Tacky and stirred everything until smooth and added the melted wax last and stirred. It all came together pretty smooth without any lumps and I poured this into an old aluminum coffee can that has a strainer over the spout. keeping this hot on the stove I’m able to pour it all into some hollow stick molds that I have and cast up 30 sticks of lube and bagged them. Takes more time to do this than make the lube itself but I like the convenience of loading another stick into my lubricator when I need it. Hope to try it out in some 45-70 loads Saturday. Thanks again.
