If NOE would cut their gas check shanks smaller diameter this tool would not be needed. Seems that all of my NOE molds cast a larger diameter gas check shank than all other brand molds. Why is this?

Are you using a alloy other than wheel weight?
We have had some problems with a run of 6.5mm.
But we try for a easy thumb press on all our bullets.
We have samples of all the Hornady and Gator checks
and cut the shank to fit the check as close as we can.
We can open the tolerance up – Not sure I would want
to make a sloppy fit either.

I have used WW (birdshot), Lyman #2, and Linotype. The 30xcb and all of my NOE 22 caliber molds cast shanks larger than the most common Hornaday gas checks. I must flair checks to get best fit without shaving lead. I also have some 30 caliber Gator checks with the same problem. I really like your molds, but the shanks are on the large size. Maybe it is better to be too large than too small, but perfect fit would be really nice and simple.

All my checks, Gator, fit all my NOE Moulds well and I have a few. I usually use range scrap cut with roof flashing for a BHN of around 12.

I only use the chamfer tool when I have the odd bit of flash around the base, mainly an issue with bent sprue plates on lee moulds.

Your alloy choices seem a tad on the hard side from wheel weights and consequently will cast a smidgen larger.

Like detox all of my 22 cal molds cast with a gas check shank to large for either Hornady or gator gas checks.Vulcan checks made from aluminum at .010 thick material fits perfect. I cast 22 cal boolits from 9 parts of COWW to 1 part linotype.
If I use the other gas checks they have to be expanded with a punch.
Never tried Hornady or gator check for proper fit with 30 35 or 44 molds. I make my own and make to fit……….Terry

i am currently shooting NOE 37 and 45 gns 225 bullets out of my Martini 218 Bee with the BHN 12 alloy described above at 2000 fps and the Gator checks click on just fine.

Interested to see what BHN your bullets are at.

I wish my Gator checks would fit my 225107 NOE mold. I have 10000 part bought from NOE and the rest bought off of castboolits  web site. Two different lots and neither lot will fit any of my NOE 22 cal. molds. They fit Lyman molds just fine.
Never measured the BHN of my boolits made from 9 parts COWW and 1 part linotype.
Like I said above the Vulcan aluminum checks that I bought slip on the NOE molds  OK………………. Terry

the GC shank on my 314365 and 311365 both mike out at .286 when cast with reclaim shot and water quenched for 22 BHN.
