      Currently i am on a .303 Brit trip…..

A nice Lee Enfield No4 MK 1 followed me home and the first steps are ongoing….

      Load:

Lee .312 G/C Bullets drop close at this diameter
      Lube: Bens  LLQ
12,5 grs Lovex Do36 Pistol Powder
      S&B Large Pistol Primers
      Neck Sized
      slightly taper crimped

Due to my best experiences with a NOE Mould for my 8×57 Mauser  ( 326471)  i would  buy another Mould from Al but beeing not really sure wich one for the .303 will be the final best choise

I have a 314 Lee Push Through sizer and the Lee Bullets  (.312) don`t touch the walls of this sizer tool.

i got following results from 50m,  after some sight corrections (8 Rounds in the 10 Circle)

      .303%20Target%2050%20m_zpsbr4e42ne.jpg

and 100 m  so far  5 Rounds centered

for me a have just thinking about…
is a .314 diameter large enought or shall i go with a .316 diameter
and  which one  i shall  prefer for  314198 SP  or  314 or 316  299 RN

thx for your help in this issue

      Klaus

You really need to slug to get your exact bore and groove dimensions, as they can differ noticeably ‘tween rifles. Once you have that information then the choosing becomes far easier ’till then any advice is speculation.

My go to bullet for the 303, I have around 3 dozen rifles in this calibre, is the 316299 or 314299 as the get sized from any thing at and ‘tween 0.313″ and 0.316″ depending on rifle, it is a bore riding design and that could cause complications depending on your freebore and bore diameters, I have had/have a few Enfields that the bore rider wouldn’t fit so then I usually fall back on a Loverin design.

thx for your advise about the freebore

i have droven a lead roundball throught the Barrel and measured all around the slug with a result by  7.88 mm to 7.92 mm

one idea was to resized a 326471 Bullet down  to .314 but the resuld was that the Headspace of the Bullet was to large to fit the Round into the chamber.
i must set the bullet as deep with all GG covered inside the Neck before the Bolt closed.
have you some expreriences with the 314198 Bullet ?

Sorry but metric measurements are foreign to me.

Resizing from 326 to 314 is a big ask, you will definitely end up with a longer bullet and very little in the way of lube grooves, you can mitigate against this by lubing the bullet before sizing but it is still a lot to swage down to.

I have found the 314365 to be the least effective of the heavier bullets.
