I would like to retrofit non-NOE brand moulds to work with that Maverick BBQ thermometer.  I’ve come to rely on that device pretty heavily when casting with my NOE moulds.  What is the exact size drill bit needed to get that perfect snug fit?  I “micrometered” the probe and it comes out to 4.20 mm or 0.165 inches.  The closest inch fraction I can get is 11/64 or 0.172.  So I guess I’m off to find a 4.2 mm drillbit?  Or should I go with a very slightly oversized 4.2164mm (0.166″) #19 drillbit?  Any machinists out there?

      Thanks

We furnish a #19 drill with our thermometers
We also drill and tap for a set screw when you order “drill for probe”

          Hi Al

Yeah, I have a few of your moulds that I ordered with the drill for probe option.  I also ordered a mold from Accurate that NOE does not provide (#38-350R) that I want to drill and tap.  I ordered a #19 drill and got a 6-32? drill and tap and some set screws.  I got the thermometer elsewhere which is why I didn’t have the drillbit.  Thanks for confirming the size for me!
