I don’t know about you, but I have great trouble installing checks on rifle bullets when using alloys such as #2 or lino. The shank grows too much compared to COWW or 20/1. Handgun calipers such as 38/357, 44 mag or 45 Colt that use checks do not seem to be a problem. 22 caliber, and 8 mm are problematic for me. I’m sure other calibers such as .30, 6.5, 7mm would greatly benefit as well.
A ring with an inside cutter and an outside that is nurled or textured that can be finger turned to accurately cut the shank would be a great aid.
The ring could be countersunk to align with the bullet body.
A selection of 5 or 6 calibers would take care of most everything.
What do you think?
