nothing is more frustrating than spending good money on these high quality molds, and after pouring I see scratches on the sprue plate and mold top, I take it ,that this is dirt in the lead,

Im using a bottompour rcbs pot, Im fluxing with sawdust or wax when handy, then have done both, left the stuff sit on top of the lead as a anti oxidant and have cleaned everything off so I have shiny lead,(no difference after pouring) also scrape the sides and bottom of the pot to get the most amount of dirt up on top,

on the mold, Im lubing per instructions with the oil that comes with the molds, and still get scratches,

thing is, have always had scratches on my cheap molds and just dressed them down and went on, but, with these new molds , I have,  really want to get away from doing that,

      what am I missing ??  ???

Sprue plate a bit too tight?…. When you give the mould a “flick” it should move downwards from it’s own weight….

that’s what it does right now,

I even took the sprue plates and ran them across some 1000grit paper on a granite block hoping to find/clean off any high spot, and ALs plates are surprisingly true and clean of any burrs ect, compared to lyman or lee stuff
