I have a 58 caliber TC Hawken and would love to have a mold that would mirror the Hornady Great Plains conical.

Hollow base design just like the NOE 510-385-HB made a few years back. A friend loaned me one of his original 58’s to take measurements off for design.

Would there be any interest in a bullet casting .590 or .592 on top driving band? Bullet would weigh somewhere in the ballpark of 525 to 540 grains.

Many of the Zouave 58 rifles were .592 in grooves and TC 58 muzzleloader were .590 in grooves

May I ask a question about your measured dimensions?

Wasn’t the Minié Ball supposed to originally be smaller than the bore or grove diameter so that it would pass easily down the Holy Black’s residue.

Even the patched round balls or conical projectiles were slightly smaller to take into account the thickness of the patch material x 2.

In the case of the Minié … When rammed home and the powder charge detonated the hollow base sitting atop the powder charge was then further expanded under the detonated pressure…  to thus fill the bore and the groves on your rifle…

Holy Black to my understanding … tends to leave a large amount of fowling behind in the bore … when fired.

This tends to build up, & make it harder to drive the next projectile home…

So my question to you is:

Making the cast projectile the full grove diameter as you noted…

Wouldn’t that tend to make it difficult to ram down atop the Holy Black charge?

Your call on how you want to proceed this …
        Take Care, & Stay Safe…
