I’ve been shooting these through the 458 SOCOM over 19.5g of Lil Gun. They give a nice kick. I’d like more cavities (in the mould not my teeth!) and a gas check option. Right now I’m putting plain base gas checks on them. They work great but sometimes when swaging them on they’ll tear. And a 5 cav one of these would be just grand! Anyone else interested?

Make the mold blocks big as possible, this design often tends to an off-centre nose if dropped while still too hot, giving one of the all-time bast cast bullets (imho) a bad reputation as ‘unstable’ when casting error was to blame. I wonder if bigger mold blocks might draw off some of the heat from the alloy. When I use the little Lee mold, I need to wait quite a while for it to cool enough in front of a little fan before gently dropping into a deep soft pile of cotton scrap.
I make these hardcast by oven hardening, need such care when quenching them, but well worth it. Impossibly good in my Marlin 1895 (loaded singly) at distance.

When I cast with large bullets per blocksize, I usually have a moist towel or sponge I use to help the mold blocks cool.

I was hoping for more interest in this design. It’s a great bullet and looks real nice in the case. I see cornmastah has it right around 500g with ww. My own alloy is a bit lighter. Based on the empirical evidence I’ve gathered my alloy weight can be expressed as a function of the original wheel weight weight as such
AlloyWeight = WW_Weight – (WW_Weight * 0.07)
So that 500g comes out to
500 – (500 * 0.07) = 500 – 35 = 465g
When I make a batch I stick to the formula I have so it’s consistent across my 60# runs that I do in my Harbor Freight cast iron pot. I got the biggest one they had. Then I ladle out to an 18 hole mini-bread loaf baking sheet to get roughly 3.5# ingots.
Anyway I guess I’ve wandered a bit. But it’s a great bullet regardless of what alloy you use so put in your “I want” so we can get this thing made!Full.Lead.Taco

But no matter what put me down for a 4 cavity plain base in aluminum even if I have to go sell something!
