Ranch Dog has a post over at his Rossi-Rifleman forum with some pictures of a new boolit he designed for the 7.62×39 and has had some very promising results with it so far.

I know there is a big demand for good boolits for the short Russian! Ranch Dog says he will give the boolit drawings to NOE so they can run them with the rest of the line up!

Have a Ruger 77, CZ, and a Mini-Mauser chambered in this cartridge so would definitely be interested in one of these molds, esp. if it was a TL..

I know it’s been in the works for awhile but curious to know when it’s coming out? Don’t want to miss out on the group buy.

It took me a little longer to get some shooting done than I expected but during deer season it always surprises me how little time I have for range work.

In a nutshell, this is an outstanding bullet, I’m very pleased with it and it should be made available. In the next couple of days, I will my results. I’ve settle on a hunting load with the Zastava M85. The TLC313-150-RF and this lightweight rifle is definitely a nice match!

Excellent! ;D Looking forward on the report. When do you think you’ll submit the final drawing to NOE?

                    NOE has the drawing.

I did the shooting with my Savage 10FCM Scout. It wants to shoot the bullet well but that .308″ groove is just too much of a crush to expect from a .313″ bullet. The rifle needs the diameter as the chamber cut still has the huge amount of freebore that the spec drawings calls for. Why any manufacturer would take it upon themselves to slap a .308 groove on a firearm chambered for this cartridge is beyond me. The throat erosion with the standard 7.62X39 metal core bullets is going to be significant.

I started to poke around to find a smith that could get me a custom barrel but decided to go a different route. I’m going to fire lap it from the .308″ out to .311″. I spoke with Marshall at Beartooth yesterday and he thought it makes sense to try in that the barrel is not working anyway. Beartooth has the necessary diameters available in his lapping bullets. I’ve done this work on a number of firearms. The most I have changed one is .002″ and it took a while but, hey, shooting is shooting.

Next up is the Mini-30, I’m going to use Benchmark with it. I used H322 with the 10FCM.

This morning while “guiding” my dad on a deer hunt, I killed my first critters with it. A few minutes before the sun come up a coyote crossed the sendero in front of us about 60 yards out but was immediately in the brush on the other side. I brought the Mini-Mauser up and started “chripping” with my lips, quite and still out, and he came back out the same hole in the brush he went into. I shot him.

Twenty minutes later I could hear something walking in the grass, very still with not a breath of wind, I was watching the grass where I had heard the noise and saw a bobcat slowly materialize at 50 yards, I dropped him.

My dad was a bit upset at me as “we are supposed to be deer hunting” but I jumped up to claim my kills. I looked over my shoulder and he was heading back to the truck. I figured he would get over it so I was admiring my work. I heard my truck start up and at that point figured he was serious and might leave me about a mile and a half from the house so I hightailed it to the truck without a picture of the critters.

Bullet seating, I use the .310″ Ez-Xpander and with find no need to flare the case mouth. These cases have been annealed and collet die sized.

With the Zastava M85 Mini Mauser I’m using a max load of H355, 31.0-grains, for 2175 FPS at 45.0K PSI.

Here are the little  “Red Devils” loaded up and ready to shoot!
