With the popularity of 8.6 Blackout, there is some interest in having this mold run again. It was originally designed for 338 Spectre, but it has proved to be a good mold for the 8.6 Blackout as well.

There may also be some interest in having a similar profile but in 350gr, for those wishing to really make use of the heavier subsonic that you can shoot from the 1:3 twist barrel that the 8.6 offers.

I’ll have to run some numbers to see if a 350 Gr in a .339 diameter is or is not too long for the standard NOE mould body…

        https://noebulletmolds.com/site/product-category/bullet-moulds/338/htc339-315-fn-bz1/

The HCT339-315-FN is apparently already ~ 1.375 long… so it may be that adding length to that mould design to get it to bulk up to an ~ 350 cast bullet weight … might make it too long or almost too long to fit into the standard NOE mould block…

In the interim I have started one of my unofficial listings in regard to your request in regard to the 315 cast bullet weight…

        1. Jay Andrew            HCT339-315-FN                                                              10-31-22

It appears from the inventory run requirements for NOE that you will also need a few more individuals to post with a somewhat firm commitment in regard to a new run of the HCT339-315 mould design…

        https://noebulletmolds.com/smf/index.php/topic,1624.0.html

In regard to an ~  350 Gr weight … here are the NOE new design group buy requirements as I currently understand them … from the NOE home page.

        https://noebulletmolds.com/site/about-us-2/group-buy-rules/

Your call on how to proceed….
Here’s hoping that you get your wish on either option …

          Ok.

Leaving basically everything the same as far as far as a .580 SD, a .200 meplat, & a 3.46 Tangent Ogive radius … to predict a ~ 350 Gr … cast product of that design…

The cast bullet OAL will most probably need to be ~ 1.520 in length to bulk up the .315 Gr to a .350 Gr cast bullet product…

NOE apparently no longer accepts attachments of photos… It is what it is… so I can not unfortunately post the NOE sketch for the HCT339-315 & my HCT339-350 mould sketch…

            Thanks for the input!

I have the drawing for the 315gr kicking around somewhere in my CAD files, I had worked with another Spectre owner to help draw it up. What is the max length on the NOE Standard Blocks?

You are most probably going to have to call Al personally,  & talk to him directly about that …

Like you … I am only a member that happens to have basically the same software design program that Al @ NOE currently is apparently using on his website …

I checked the NOE drawings, on the store website and the longest bullet in the NOE store  apparently appears to be that 339-315 Gr version of that particular bullet @ 1.375 ” OAL…

So unfortunately I cannot comment on the mould blocks dimensions … nor the spacing dimensions that Al @ NOE might be using … on his CNC machine setups, nor the stock that Al might be utilizing to make his mould offerings.

              It is what it is.

I can offer only what I can glean from my review of the dimensional sketches on the NOE store website, & from the NOE moulds that I currently have in my war bag …

Unlike some other mould manufacturers that have a variety of mould blocks as options that one can choose from, when preparing to order a custom mould … the selection utilizes essentially a completed mould set of options … sans drilling for a temperature probe, and on some offerings a teflon coated sprue plate…

It appears that NOE only technically appears to utilize a single size mould block… with the apparent dimensional exception, being for longer mould blocks for the larger cavity count moulds, being the only difference that I can find along the way …

I have ~ 80 of the NOE moulds at the moment in my war bag, & none appear to be of a larger mould block depth dimension size.

The NOE moulds that I have tend to run the gambit spectrum from .22 caliber, up thru .50 caliber…

SO … it is what it is …

OBTW the other mould manufacturers in the area, only offer a single or perhaps a double cavity version in what is advertised as a longer, & larger mould block …

To do a custom design with your choice of cavities as an option as limited by that mould block size as shown on that other custom mould stores website’s order options.

NOE only appears to offer what you can see on the NOE store website… Therefore talking to Al about the mould block sizes and making a potential 1.520 OAL in a 350 Gr option, would be my recommendation at this point in the game.

As I posted previously … you will apparently need to gather support postings from other NOE forum members for a potential new group design option with the larger dimensions as you tended to indicate in your first posting on this subject …

Also … I once again recommend that you call … Al and talk directly to him about the possibility of a potential 1.520 OAL 350 Gr cast bullet in a .339 cast bullet diameter …

If he can do it I will be happy to email him the dimensional drawing intel that I ginned up to reply to your first posting on the subject … in regard to a 350 grain version of the 339-315 cast bullet.

It was an interesting subject and an interesting request …

                  Gentlemen,

Attached below is the beginning of one of my unofficial listings for the HCT339-315-FN.

                  1. Jay Andrew            HCT339-315-FN                                                              10-31-22

Below is the link to that particular NOE store page… in regard to that particular stock mould design …

Anything with a heavier cast bullet weight like the 350 grain, that has not been designed or offered before … you will most probably need to start another thread on that particular heavier new item design …

                  https://noebulletmolds.com/site/product-category/bullet-moulds/338/htc339-315-fn-bz1/

Good luck to you in your quest for another 8.6 MM cast bullet product…

OBTW it might tend to help Al and NOE proper if you specifically mention which of the out of stock NOE bullet moulds that you are each interested in …

Mike, at one time they made 460 cal bullet at 500+ grains that was in a larger size mold, but I think it was only a 2 or 3 cavity. Don’t know that for sure or if that size block is still available. This is still the land of shortages. If you contact Al he will have an answer.

The question about the larger mould cavity is in lew of the additional request for a 350 grain design … in a posting about specifically, (I believe) for an out of stock 339 dia .315 grain mould design…

That tends to boil down (with nothing else changed from the current 315 mould design) to be something like a 1.520 OAL based on the software bullet design programs predictions.

On cutting such a larger mould cavity, according to the standard normal NOE mould block … would tend to lead one to surmise that the cut cavity, or cavities would tend to stick out the bottom of the standard mould block dimensions … of an ~ 1.480 deep mould block…

Whether Al still might want to get or have the larger mould block materials to make a larger mould block might then also tend to depend on whether such a request for a bulked up .315 Gr design, to postulate a 350 Gr cast product weight …

The potential option for a 350 Gr design might most probably depend on a multitude of potentially firm requests for that larger mould cavity design …

I believe that I suggested that the original requestor phone Al, & get that intel … However at this point that also potentially might tend to be putting the cart before the horse…

Thus a what you would like to see forum thread might potentially be in order here to put the horse back out front … pulling instead of pushing the cart…

Forum postings on said 350 Gr design requests as a separate thread could then be posted and tabulated … on the forum … for the forum record…

Once sufficient requests are posted, then the option for materials could be procured down the line once the current NOE parameters for a new design group buy are met … as per the current NOE group buy rules…

                          https://noebulletmolds.com/site/about-us-2/group-buy-rules/

I have I believe stated previously that I would be glad to send to Al via normal email the computer data page that was generated by the design program … on that subject down the line should he request that intel, from me … as a basis for a new design …

That could potentially also tend to eliminate reinventing the same wheel over and over … taking time away from NOE proper production…

That being true it might be the best of all worlds if there is a separate posting requesting a new 350 Gr design, based on the 315 Gr design format … producing the beginning of a new list of requests for a new what you would like to see run mould design…

Else like the recent Airgun 217 design requests … the thread tends to get muddied when two separate topics are mixed together under one subject… between pellets, & airgun slugs.

You, & the others that are posting that you want an HCT339-315-FN might wish to also post your particular type preferences in addition to your request for a mould model.

Remember also that an RG (hollow point version) traditionally only comes in a two (RG2) or a four cavity (RG4) version.

It would potentially help NOE proper to also have you, & the others to possibly post your particular mould request preference … from the previous runs listings on the NOE store, as noted below.

Also, … Anything other than what is currently shown as being out of stock … would technically be requesting something that is otherwise not in stock … I.E. an new production model either in weight or in model type…

Many individuals have previously tended to also post the material type … I.E. (brass, or aluminum), when one looks at the remaining stock, however it is brass that tends to be the last of the items that remains in the stock bins.

(OBTW the BZ1, I tend to believe is the stock bin designator under the current NOE proper mould numbering system)…

So you might potentially tend to look at the NOE store on that account, & pick your particular model that most warms the cockles of you heart…
