Moderator::A quick look at the NOE store show that there are still apparently 2 cavity PBs and 4 cavity PBs in stock of that particular cast bullet persuasion at this present instant in time.

Since you are new to the forum you need to know that tradition has it that you will need at least 5 new requests from different individuals for a mould to even be considered to be rerun. I tend to believe that…, That’s if there is also nothing in the bin…
I’m a little confused however… so you will have to help me out here… and educate me on your thinking… Why a GC? & exactly how fast are you planning to push these ~ 350 Grain HCT design cast 45 Caliber rifle bullets?
Supersonic as I understand it is breaking the sound barrier which is roughly circa 1125 FPS at sea level.
A plain base bullet can basically be pushed to circa 1400 – 1600 FPS (actually Supersonic) (depending on who you believe as a authority source) before it starts to need a GC with traditional lubes…
My understanding of powder coat (according to a HighRoad thread) is that it appears to extend that velocity to somewhere around 2200 to 2800 fps.
Exactly how fast do you plan to push these cast 45 caliber cast bullets with a powder coating?
Further my understanding of GCs (according to a MarlinOwners thread) is that you can basically push a GC version about the same as a jacketed bullet…
So I ask again Why a GC on an HCT cast bullet design… if you have an option to, & an indicated intention to powder coat, exactly how fast do you plan to speed with these 45 caliber rifle cast bullets, so that I can calibrate my radar gun down the line…?

Participant::Mike, thanks for the query. So here are my thoughts. And I expect this will open me up to “here’s why you’re wrong” comments from some folks. I already reload for 9mm, 45ACP, 44 Mag and 460 S+W. I have always GC’d the 44 and 460 since I shoot hotter loads from large frame revolvers mostly for bush hunting in Arkansas and Texas. I built a 458 AR pistol platform with a Tromix 10.5 barrel. I absolutely love shooting it, for me it’s like having another more versatile big bore pistol. But I haven’t done any casting for it unlike the other calibers I have. I shoot it mostly at my redneck range for fun but it will also serve as a bush gun. That said, I gas check the big bore stuff so I can always error on the side of load flexibility. If I load in the middle or upper end of a load, I know the GC will do its job whether it was truly needed or not. Some might see this as a waste of gas checks but again, it’s what I’m comfortable with and familiar with. I can absolutely learn new tricks, I’m not arguing that, again, I stick with what I know. Currently I shoot the .458 300gr Noslers with 4227 that come in around 1500fps. It is jacketed and to your point, I load my 44 and 460 GC cast pills and treat them like jacketed rounds. Works great. While the 350 isn’t going to be up around 1600, especially with the 10.5in barrel – (although powder adjustments can made to mazimize this length,) I’d expect to load anywhere from 1100-1400 depending on powders and load data. That is inline with my 44mag loads which I gas check out of ~7.5in barrel with very good results and no leading concerns. It is fair to say I am not the type to experiment with my Tromix barrel and find it’s limits for leading with a non GC’d cast round. I also cast just wheelweights and the GC is like my security blanket for slightly varying alloys you get with WWs. I also do not have a can and really don’t have an interest for loading subsonic AT THIS TIME -maybe down the road but I have too many hobbies as it is. As for powder coating, this would be my first experience going that route. I’d like to learn something new. So basically I gas check because that’s what I know and that’s an option here, and the powder coat design because I can now learn that too. This mold seems to accommodate both worlds for me. I guess an option would be to try out the plain base mold (which is what I feel you’re getting at) but at the end of the day I’d feel more comfortable going with what I know. And that’s a GC’d cast bullet. If no body else is interested based on the very valid points you raise, then I’ll probably find that out pretty quickly. But obviously the GC design has been made and people have used it. Maybe someone who has that bullet and loaded for it can relate their experiences. Thanks Mike for the academic exercise, I appreciate your thoughts and especially the references you used.
