I did some casting yesterday with some hollow point molds.  Here is a pic of the HTC459-354-RF:

Nice! What do they weigh with the hollow point?

I will try to remember to weigh them when I get home.  I have already powdercoated them and sized them–that may increase the weight slightly (the PC).

Finally was able to break in the mould and get some of these cast up. These were amazing to cast, no mould tapping needed,  they just fell out!  I coated them with HiTek Bronze 500 and put a Gator check on them.  Since this is the solid version they came out right at 360 grs. finished weight.

dang! those look good!  Did you do any hollow points or just the flat points?  The hollow points actually fall out super easily too.

Just got a 4 cavity for the solids as I was just looking for quantity shooting rounds with the SOCOM. But I am starting to dig the hollow point moulds because they are easy to use and have been going back and picking up some favorites in the RG versions. The ones you did with this bullet look good so I plan on picking up an RG mould in this design to play with also.  This and the 500 gr SP were my first HTC style mould and man they are great to cast with!

While I really got these for the SOCOM I will also try some of these in my Marlin 1895 SBL since they have the crimp groove already.

So beautiful!  What loads are you using for those in the pictures above?

With the 500 gr. I just used my standard subsonic load with a 500 gr. (I used to load the Lee 500 gr)  which is 25 grs. of Reloader 7. With the Lee bullet it gives me just over 1,000 fps so I figured it would be a good place to start.

With new NOE 354 bullet I loaded up some test loads with Accurate 2200 and Reloader 7

With the NOE 354 in the 45-70 I used my standard shooting load of 22 grs. of Alliant 2400 that I shoot lots of with the NOE RD350.  Since I also use that load with the NOE 405gr. I decided to just load the 354 (which is 360 grs) with it and see how it shoots.

I hope to shoot them and get them on paper this weekend.

What a good looking projectile, if I’d seen it earlier, I would have gotten one.  Oh well, next time.
