Hi, people were joking around (but being serious about the mould) on the reloading central fb page about doing this.  What would be the chance of this being designed into a mould?

Indeed.

But I doubt that anyone here really thought the bullet would be an exact replica.  I highly doubt it could stand up to being fired, as-is, anyway.

Ironically, I won’t even be a player in this group buy. 
I like the idea, but don’t shoot 40 caliber.  I just figured I’d help, since the discussion caught my attention and my son has plenty of Lego figures. 

Now, 44 caliber…. that, I’d be in on.

Length minus two circles on top and bottom .333″
Diameter .399″

Top circle/hole/mount (solid or not):
OD .193″
ID .119″ (if hollow as the head was on the figure)
Length .070″

Bottom Circle hole mount (hollow):

ID .190
length .043

I could not figure the curve of the head.

OK, I think I’ll try to figure out the volume of the head, and get an approximate weight. I agree it will be on the light side, but this is more of a fun thing

The small circle at the top of the head can be solid to add weight.

Don’t trust the metric Lego head.
Those dimensions are pretty rough and have some conversion errors, when compared to both, and/or, either yours and mine.

super light weight.  if you were to want the bullet to cycle a gun you would have to load the case with powder, lol.

I am quite sure that if 10 people signed up for this Group Buy that Al would make it. But I am wondering about the practicality of this bullet design. Will it perform well? If it is only to be cute or used to show off to your buddies is it worth the $$$ you will invest in it? I would rather show my buddies a target with a nice group or share a photo of a nice game animal that I had shot with an NOE bullet. Maybe I’m a wet blanket but I won’t waste my money on a mould I can’t use.

Has anyone ball parked the weight yet?

About 97.5 gr in pure lead, with the solid top and hollow base as drawn.  Standard bullet casting alloys would, of course, end up even lighter.

Feel free to check my math.
I have an internal volume of 0.034 in^3 for the head (kicked out by a CAD program), which is about 0.55716 cc.
The density of pure lead at ‘room temperature’ is 11.34 g / cc.
That means 6.3181 grams, or 97.5 gr (and some change).

But, of course, it probably wouldn’t work with a hollow cavity that deep or that straight.  So if this were to be done, the bullet would likely be at least 25% heavier (I’d be leaning toward 40% heavier).

Right now, the scientific types are clawing out their eyeballs, due to my mixture of units of precision / significant figures.
