I am interested in this mold for my Drilling in 8 X 57 JR (.318″). Has anyone been using this mold for this cartridge? Have you used any other molds for this cartridge? Results? Thanks! Jim SC325-180-RF RG2 cavity GC [325-180G-RF-]
I have a combination gun that is 16ga over 8x57JR. I managed to luck into a couple of old boxes of Norma brass at a gun show for not much $, and then bought 8×57 dies. I had a mould for a tapered 200gr intended for 32-40 schuetzen loads, so cast some 25-1, panlubed, and loaded over 18gr AA5744. The 50 yard groups (with iron sights) were such that I didn’t do any further load development. I’m sure that with a GC you could push ’em faster, but my gun is pushing 100 years old and a work of art!
You might want to check the throat diameter a buy a mould that drops close to that diameter, particularly if you have a .318″ groove.
BTW, 18gr AA5744 will work with weights from 175-250gr. 16gr 2400 works great under a 180gr in my 8×57 Turk.
