Is there any interest in the following mold?

Lyman Bullet Mold #225415 22 Caliber (225 Diameter) 55 Grain Flat Nose Gas Check & plain base?

Evidently, Lyman shows a 45 grain version in the 3rd edition Cast bullet handbook.
Does anyone know why?

Also, if anyone has this mold and would be willing to send a couple samples to Al for measurements, it would be greatly appreciated.

This is a bullet I have wanted for my 222 Remington.

I would be very interested in this mold as well! One thing I would like to see, that is sadly lacking in most 22 PB molds is a little more lube capacity. I would like to see at least .025cc of lube with the base groove no more than .050 from the base. Most PB bullets made from GC designs have too fat a base for effective lube seal and promote leading. Oh, and i would take a 50-55gr, 4 cav AL PB HP. Would make an exceptional bullet for a Hornet!

I received the Lyman mould I bought from Ebay this morning and made about 20 sample bullets and they are in the mail and on the way to Provo,Utah.  Cornmastah should have them by the end of the week. I think he is very busy and may take some time getting to them but I am sure he will do it as quickly as possible.

I have received the sample bullets.  Been super busy at work so I haven’t been able to draw it up yet.  Hope to get the drawing done and posted soon.

I want this mold however it is designed. My only requirements are a plain base design in the range of 55 to 62 grains. The design from one of the forum members asked for more lube capacity and that would may be something that would bring more people to this group buy. It doesn’t matter to me as I plan to try some with PC. Some want a HP which will need a wider meplate and that is okay by me too. So whatever the group settles on is what I will agree to. Just want 10 people to sign-up to buy.

I just looked at this thread on the menu and it has over 1700 views…that tells me there quite a few forum members that have interest in this discussion and want this bullet mould to be produced. Stay tuned …this could be exciting!

I agree with the 55 – 62 gr design weight. In a perfect world i would like to see just a tad wider meplate than the original

With all due respect…. what would be the point in copying a successful bullet design and then CHANGING IT ???

I am still interested in a mould for the ORIGINAL design of this bullet….

I’m not saying it needs changed…just trying to give everyone a voice in it’s design. Lets give all ideas a chance and pick what the majority wants. I’ll buy whatever that choice is. And no offense taken at your comment. I’m just trying to make this easy.

ok, here is a drawing of the bullet.  Let me know what you’d want to tweak or change on it.  I am not sure what version of the bullet it is, but I drew it up based on the samples.

I like it just like that but as a plain base. By making by a plain base will that add a grain or two to the weight? But I am only one of 10 people who need to “want” this mould. Any other thoughts?

It can be run as a plain base and gas check in the same group buy.  Need others to chime in to see what they think of this design.
