      Hello friends,

I wanted to share my success with my first NOE mold.  I have a Marlin 1894CS.  It has a microgroove barrel.  It shoots jacketed bullets great but I cast my own so I was looking for a mold.  I have had good luck enlarging my existing molds.  So I bought my first NOE mold, a 360-180 WFN.  It drops the bullets at about .362″ with my alloy.  I size them to .360″.

The WFN design feeds through my rifle without a hitch.  The targets posted were from my initial  range trip.  It is an indoor range and the targets were fired at 25 yards.  I am very happy.

To NOE:  Thanks for a great product.

      Steve in N CA

The idea that [Marlin] microgroove bbls. won’t shoot cast bullets accurately is an old wives tale as you’ve demonstrated.  I have no idea where or when that misconception arose, but it hasn’t been true of either my Marlin #336 .30-30Win. or .45-70 Gov’t.  Moreover, I never heat-treated my CB’s or used an alloy harder than WW’s + 1% tin to get superlative accuracy.

I also have had success with my micro-grooved 1894C from 1979.  I use the Ranch Dog version and have gotten my best groups with Alliant 2400 powder and ACC#9 powder.  My speed was 1623 fps with 2400 powder.  What a nasty sounding “whack” when a ground hog receives one of these 180 grain bullets with it’s wide nose.
