      New addition to the store…. RG2 and RG4 moulds…. http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/index.php?cPath=30_515

I got my mould today, and it looks beautiful….

It came with three sets of pins, for the HP (above) a flat nose, and a cup point (shallow cone HP)…. When I get a chance to cast some (next month?) I will do a report on the diameter and weights as cast….

I got a chance to cast these today…. The HP cast at 98 gr. and the FN at 104 gr. (I did not try the cup point pins)… I was using 40:1 lead:tin…. The diameter varied a bit, just under and just over 0.308″…. They cast very nicely, once I got the hang of tapping the mould when closing it to seat the RG pins…. just a couple of very light taps with my sprue mallet while closing the mould with it upright and angled slightly towards the back so that the pins lay in their grooves and gravity drops them onto the slotted plates….

The hollowpoints are for the most part well formed, with about 10% rejects from incomplete fills…. possibly due to not running the melt quite hot enough…. I am using a Lee bottom pour pot…. One thing I did notice is that when you cut the sprue (I had to use a mallet, the 4-cavity mould sprue plate would not open by hand, like I can do with a 2-cavity)…. don’t invert the mould or some of the bullets may fall out, because they are smooth sided with no lube grooves…. Hold the mould with the sprue plate vertical while cutting the sprues, and don’t turn it upside down until you are over the tray where you want to drop the bullets when you open the mould….
