Looks like the large cavity molds are pretty much dried out of plain based bullet styles.

This is a heck of a bullet for 300 blackout powder coated and my dad started siphoning them from me awhile back for his 308 at near full blast power.

Would be nice to see a refresh of the stock for all styles but plain based if I may be so biased in multi cavity

I actually cast this one just this morning. It’s my favorite 30 cal mold. I got the 3 cavity gas check version awhile back and would love another one maybe in a plain base. My 30-06 and 300 blackout love this design also. Super accurate and casts easy.
Something like this set up, but in an htc mold, also would be awesome.

Yeah, I’ve also used a bunch from this design–it’s a good one.  In an htc design… hmmm… that sounds kind of nice.

Not only would that be a sexy boolit, lol , it also be one I’d really like to have. I love the pointy spire points. This particular shape though is really outstanding. So far it’s my most accurate mold for my 30-06.

Only complaint I can offer from this bullet is if you go way too fast w this bullet when trying to cast them….you can bend the tip just a hair. My defense to that is slow down a touch, cast w two molds, or look at a box of soft point factory ammo and tell me how many of those noses are perfectly pointed and not bent slightly a milimeter or two.

When I load them I get a bullet and roll it across the table just to verify I’m not using one that wobbles. I’ve found 3 out of 500 so far. Maybe a non issue but I offer it up as a advisory.

I like the idea of a slick side version but I currently count on the length of the bullet being as long as it is for ballistic coefficient reasons when shooting sub. Maybe it won’t make a difference but I know it helps. Also I like the ability to use the lube groove as a way to roll a slight crimp into as Hornady 300 AAC dies will buckle a case if you crimp any amount anywhere on a non crimp groove/lube groove.

I know what your talking about with the bent tips sometimes. Until I was more aware at first, I had more of them then I wanted. I also take my time more and make sure to drop them out of the mold nicely for better results. It’s one of the main reasons I switched to a textured silicon mat to cool down my freshly made boolits. Silicon is soft and does not damage the hot pills. Allows them to cool and separated so none collide and get damaged.
For the tips that do get bent, I was reshaping them with the NOE push through sizer. I use the correct nose punch on the base and load the boolits nose down, and while installing gas checks to the flat base of the accessory shaft that comes with the kit. Gas checks are attached ( still need the crimp), however any misshaped tips are fixed from the nose punch.
Since I started going this route, I’ve had hardly any throw backs.

Good to know. I have shot some w the nose out of center a touch but your talking about a quarter inch at worst diff w a nose off center….maybe no difference at all?

I’m pushing though a lee sizer and powder coating em then sizing again and they seem to work well.

My dad is pushing his on the 2400-2500 fps threshold on a 308 and they group 1 1/2- 2 inch at 50 yards w no load development w a aimpoint 4 moa red dot. Not bad I’d say for a pointy tip cast bullet

Yeah, sizing the bullets “bottoms up” with the NOE top punch seems to correct any slight bends in the pointy tip.  Odfairfaxsub, the ones you are pushing 2400-2500fps in a .308, are those plain base bullets or gas checked bullets?  And what alloy are you using?

My dad is doing it. The 2400-2500 fps is a plain based w 2 coats harbor freight red using imr 4320 powder.

I originally bought the mold for lighter sub sonic mold in my 300 AAC. As I was casting at his house w the mold one day he was like “render unto Caesar” and proceeded to prove these things in his ar10 powder coated.

We both powder coat these 2x coat in red.

I had problems w these fitting in a ar15 upper that checked out w cerocafe alloy within sami spec….they just wouldn’t fit in the throat. But these fit my dads 308, my 16 inch upper from star armory, and my mod 700 300 aac

Just retested all my original loads that showed promise and the results were repeated. Fed great sized to .309. Real nice bullet in 1-7″twist

I would like to see a re-run of these as well.

30 caliber molds are 15% off right now and there are only GC/PB molds, no GC only molds of this profile.  :(

I would like to see the 311-198-SP (311365) 4-cavity GC aluminum back in stock.  Thanks

This happens to be the main stay of my blackouts. Happy w performance at 50-100 yards. Works in 1-7 and 1-10 which was causing trouble for me w heavier bullets but this bullet is doing all my twist happily

I contacted Al about trying to squeeze these into the run schedule.  He said he will try to get some run.
