I loaned my 360-477 NOE mold to a buddy. This is my favorite mold. After he got finished using it his wife decided it needed cleaning. She sprayed oven cleaner on and tried to clean. Needless to say it didn’t work. It sure is ugly now. I have casted with it and it seems I need to run my pot a little hotter and there is one cavity that sticks sometimes. Anybody run into this before. One last thing, these people are dear friends. They were there for me when my wife of 30 years decided she didn’t want to be my wife anymore. No comments about friends, okay. Janene meant well, we all make mistakes.

I would go through the breaking in steps again to see if that helps.  Old toothbrush, dawn dish soap, hot water, and scrub it out a bunch.  Then heat cycle it once to get all the moisture out and then lightly smoke it.  That’s what I would do first and see if it helps.

Sounds like a good plan I will try that. I sprayed it down with WD-40 and removed a little of crud.

I just read this and my first thought is , would it hurt to dip the mold halves in a degreaser solution to hopefully release what is stuck on? Like an overnight soak then a good hot rinse, followed by the break in steps? Either way, I hope you get it squared away. That’s a bummer.

And You may try isopropyl alcohol  or acetone etc easily evaporated cleaning liquid.

I tried all the suggestions and they helped some. Finally I took some comet cleaner and a toothbrush after it. That helped a bunch. I just got through casting a pot full of bullets and it is working a lot better. I will admit I was worried the comet might scratch the cavities but looks ok. I thank you gentlemen. It is good to know there are still people around who want to help.

Glad you got it working again.
