I have been a cast bullet bench rest shooter for a number of years now and is basically all I do anymore. One ongoing problem has been being unable to fit the noses of cast bullets to the bores of various guns without having caliber specific  custom dies made. So when I saw that NOE was making a push through sizing kit with the capability of sizing noses as well, I ordered one along with several bushings.

After putting slightly more of a radius around the edge of the entrance to the nose sizing bushings and lubing the nose, the tool works perfectly. Also, the dimensions of the bushings are dead nuts on. Something that is rare in my experience.

Thanks Swede for fine innovative product.

What are you doing to make the nose sizing repeatable?  Do you just have to try and feel the same pressure every time and see how consistent you can make it?

          dilly:

After putting a little more of a radius on the entrance to the nose sizing die and using STP , my case lube, to lube the nose, the sizing was pretty much effortless and smooth. So much so that I could then feel the front of the first driving band “bump” up against the bottom of the nose die. Slight but I can still feel it.

I have a Hornady single stage press and at one time I had drilled and tapped a hole through the casting that the links and handle attach to. Then used a 1/4×20 bolt that bumps against one of the links of the press on the down stroke. This arrangement creates a positive adjustable stop for the press handle Eliminated the problem.

As it worked out, I think that using a good lube such as STP or maybe even Motor Honey is the key. I tried to post some photos but this forum won’t let me because it says that they are too big.

The noses on these 7mm bullets were sized down .003″ in one stroke ea. through a .275″ bushing.

I just got the push through sizer, I will use it for nose sizing.
The pusher-outer bottomed out before the bullet was pushed out. After a long search, I found washers in the metric area that fit over the nose punch shank and are small enough to fit in the bushing-holder thing. Now the bullets are pushed out.

The sizer dies need a taper/radius; this seems easy and I’m willing to pay more for it.

The lack of a stop to control how much of the nose is sized is a problem. The easy solution is to thread all of the bushing holder thing so that the pushing height can be adjusted to the press arm stop. A readily-available nut or two would hold the bushing holder at the correct = adjusted height.

On balance this is a very nice tool.
