::Wondering if anybody else is interested in one if these?
This is the drawing…
http://www.ranchdogoutdoors.com/bin/TL457235RF/bullet/sketch.jpgIt says it’s oversized for Taurus bores, maybe keep it .452 for standard 45acp bores. And add hollow point, and cup pins.
Thanks, Corvette

Participant::Funny you should mention. . .
I started a PM conversation with Ranch Dog on this very thing a week or two back, sharing a few of my positive experiences with the similar (but not TL) LBT LFN as possible guidelines for a TL 230 grainer at .452″. He’s got a few things going on at present slowing down his ability to work on the drawing, but the wheel is inflating, if not yet turning.
So yeah, I’m most likely very interested in a 4C brass solid, plain base.

Participant::I’m very interested in this one too. Would it be possible to make the first lube groove deeper, kind of a crimp groove for us 45 Auto Rim and 45acp revolver shooters, and then just treat it as a TL lube groove for auto use.
I kinda like the idea of driving this hard for a lighter-kicking .45 Colt load, but wouldn’t want to sacrifice anything from a pure autoloader slug. Some thoughts. . .
(a.) thinking that recoil pulling wasn’t a problem with .451″ jacketed, taper-crimped hardball during the Great War. Probably not a major concern with .452″ taper-crimped cast, unless maybe loading really hot in a Scandium-framed gun.
(b.) can probably get enough roll crimp on a TL groove to do the job at this recoil level if it is.
(c.) lots of room in an N-frame cylinder even if they do scoot a little.
(d.) it looks to me as if R.D.’s crimp grooves aren’t any deeper than the lube grooves, just a skosh longer, so this slight change SHOULDN’T affect tumble-lube carrying ability and might get us more broad-based appeal on a GB.
(e.) let’s see what the Dog says.

::Here is what I’ve come up with, a TL452-230-RF that should meet the needs of the 45 Auto pistol & revolver plus the 45 Auto Rim.

Here is the fit is a 45 Auto SAAMI spec chamber.

I could not find a drawing for a 45 Auto revolver cylinder (reamer). I just used the pistol chamber overlay to calculate the overall length of the cartridge for the revolver as the software I use requires such. I do have the SAAMI 45 Auto Rim drawing but honestly I just don’t have the time to get to it.

Participant::Oh HELL yes!!
I would not fret overly about the revolver chamber specs, as they can range anywhere from bored straight through and REQUIRING a moon clip to keep the round from falling out the the front of the cylinder to able to headspace on the mouth like an auto.
I will start banging the gong over at Castboolits.
Thanks for knocking out the print! ALSO: PM inbound!
