Apologies if this was addressed before but I don’t see it.  Most RG hollow point molds list pins for both HP & flat point casting.  I’m guessing the listed bullet weight is for a flat point?  Any guidance on estimating weight with a hollow point??  I’m trying to choose a design to throw a .452 HP weighing in the 250-270 range for 45 Colt.

If you look down in the lower left corner under the cast bullet dimensional image.
You will I believe find the HP cast bullet weight just above the alloy type on the mold dimensional drawing.
The flat point weight is noted in the cast bullet mold name.
an example of this would be the 432-246-HP RG4.
The weight on that particular cast bullet is noted as 230 grains.
        I hope that this helps.

For a cast Hollow Point bullet as heavy as you describe that you are looking for you will need to also make sure that the exposed nose of that particular HP cast bullet when seated to the crimp grove does not exceed the cartridge OAL noted in the SAAMI spec of 1.600 max.
Otherwise you may find when you load that smoke pole that your cartridges are too long for the cylinder.
For your convenience I have attached the 45 Colt SAAMI Cartridge & Chamber spec.
With the cartridge case being around 1.285 that means that the nose of the cast bullet can protrude no more than .315 in order to maintain the 1.600 max cartridge case.

Thanks Mike!  My current hunting loads are 310 grain cast flat points so thinking I can find a HP with an OAL that will work..

If we can get NOE to do another run on the 454-273 HP WC. that mold might possibly work for your application.
I want one of those also as the forecasted HP weight is 256 with the HP pins.
Also the crimp grove is setup to leave a nose protrusion of .290 which will make the 1.600 cartridge OAL with a bit to spare.
I started a thread requesting that a production run be scheduled for that cast bullet mold in an RG (HP) Version, as I have a use that particular mold also.
The only issue that I see if you plan to use the cartridges in a rifle is that with that particular WC cast bullet shape, it may not feed too well in a lever action.
              If that’s the case
Then you may have to search for a heavy RN HP mold.
If you can use the Schofield cartridge (in your firearm of choice) that slightly shorter cartridge case will allow a longer nose configuration and will open up the field of choice to some other cast bullet configuration possibilities for you.
The Schofield cartridge OAL is essentially the same as the Colt.
So one picks up around another .100 of cast bullet nose configuration length.
That little bit extra wiggle room opens up a goodly number of possibilities.
              Just a thought…
