Sure expected to see more interest in this boolit. I’d sure like to replace my Lee/RD version of this mould with a NOE RG mould. I guess it won’t hurt to give my finances a chance to recover a bit.

I am surprised the same. This bullet will make a modern 45 Colt rifle all it was designed to be! I designed the bullet around my Marlin 1894S but that rifle fell to the side after I decided to give the Rossi 92 a try. Rossi cuts a SAAMI spec chamber so I size the bullet at .452″ and it is a killer of whitetails and hogs.

I load it up to 35.0 KPSI but don’t experience the stiff extraction in the 92 as I did the 1894. My Rossi has a Weaver Scout scope and I don’t hesitate to shoot out to 200 yards if needed. A lot of fellows know me as a Marlin guy, a 444 nut at that, but I’m glad I did not start with the little Rossi first as I’m afraid I wouldn’t have tried others. I’ve only owned the Rossi a couple of years but I think the big game kill count is now over 60 critters and they have all succumbed to this bullet.

My most memorable shot happened not far from where I’m making this post. I was sitting here like I do most mornings, enjoying the view, with coffee and laptop, and saw a sounder of hogs out on my lower food plot. I was up and out of my chair in a moment. My normal reaction is to close the distance but I decided to put all my load work and distance shooting to the test. I sat down on the ground, estimated the range to the largest hog at 200-yards, and placed the shot right behind the shoulder. It spun at the hit, which was quite visible, ran, but only made it the 15 yards to the edge of the field and went end over end. Later with a range finder the shot measured 197-yards.

Here is my longest night time shot using only ambient light, a full moon out on a food plot, 70 yards. Notice the huge hole cut through this hog. This is the entry wound. The exit is just as large!

Here is a ballistic table for my R92.

Really had this bullet in mind for my Ruger Blackhawk but it seems I have a Winchester 94AE Trapper that hasn’t any range time in probably 20 years. These guns aren’t known to be stellar performers but if my memory serves me correctly (and it occasionally does!) this little rifle is a decent shooter.
Thanks for the load info, Michael. Hope to put it to good use soon!

Please sign me up for a 4-cav GC aluminum drilled for probe, with Lyman style top punch.

Good to hear from you Michael!  Impressive results.

I don’t see brass as an option in the 4 cav blocks. Is that correct, or was it accidentally omitted?
