      Crazy idea?

I got some lead ribbon rolls for melting and casting from a friend. It’s just around 1/2 inch wide and very thin, used for some kind of work in making composite truck panels.

It got me wondering – if gas-checks were made in one of various gas-check making tools, from thin enough lead sheet, and applied to a gas-check shank, would they work well enough to make effectively a Plain-Base boolit?  Reason I am keen on making this bizarre idea work, is some indoor clubs around my area are banning copper/alu checks, as they say the checks are somehow bouncing back and shredding the rubber splashback screens. (other clubs say this is NOT happening). But for the clubs that do ban, that would retire a lot of my gas-checked molds – unless I can make this work

Gas check boolits usually work fine ungaschecked at plain based boolit velocities.

In saying that my No4T won’t group ungaschecked gas checked boolits at all, all my other rifles do though.

Same here.  My original Marlin 1881 in 32-40WCF, even loaded down to 1200-1500 fps for light use, it groups a naked gas-check design boolit mundanely. Fit a gas-check and they all go thru the same raggedy hole.  And that a cast boolit 002″ over groove.
