Buy is almost there. Thought I would help try to generate some interest to finish this up. Just shot my, new to me, Savage 170B chambered in 35 Rem with the TLC359-190-RF and the initial shooting looks fantastic. Had a very short session, minutes, because of thunderstorms approaching and it was also the first session with the Labradar. That unit was setup and running in less than sixty seconds!  I wanted to only shoot at 25 and 50 yards, I had just sighted the rifle in a few days ago with the Speer #2435, 180-grain Flat Point, and was now ready to shoot the cast.

At 50 yards it slung a bullet low but something was not right with the shot. It was the low ball in velocity but it even sounded funny. I had loaded this ammo real quick because of the approaching weather so no telling.

These were some recycled bullets that I baked. They had been cast at least ten years ago and had gotten very soft, about 11 BHN, so I baked them. The alox looks like burnt, black paint but it is still there and solid. I did put a coat of Ben’s Tumble Lube on them and will shoot them up. I’m doing this with a bunch of different old bullets, not going to cast so many in one session in the future. Oh… after the bake, I cold water quenched them and after a few days they settled in at 16 BHN. A bit more usable.

I’ve been working on Load Note sheets for NOE and myself which I used for this load. I have most of the Hodgdon powders and used the 30.0 KPSI column to select my load. I tend to be a H335 or H4895 guy with the 35 Rem but the Load Note sheet drew my attention to both the case fill & velocity of the H322 suggestion. The 32.8-grain load should of delivered 2022 FPS with the 22″ barrel and it did. Average of the seven shots fired was 2020 FPS!

The Savage joins a Marlin 336D and Rem 600 that shoots the TLC359-190-RF.

Just curious, what happens to the draft on the front of the nose with the solid nose pins in place? I suspect it just becomes flat. What I’m mostly curious about is whether the edges of the meplat end up sharp, or do they stay rounded?

Just returned from vacation. Thought I’d check in and see what the status was on this GB. Anyone know general length of time between Al being notified at mold run being complete? Not in a hurry but thought I’d inquire. Thanks!

Things are starting to move. I’ve gotten at least 2 moulds that just came off the mill. You’ve got a GB275 number so you’re getting clode.
