Hi guys I recently bought a NOE mould, firstly I would like to say the quality is excellent and it drops bullets sized perfectly to the sated size. The bands have nice clean cuts edges and for a bullet with so many groves they drop easily from the mould.

The weight of the projectile is stated as 170 grain, I have tried two different alloys and am consistently dropping 179-181 grainers?

Good question and we get it a lot.

Lets look at the 311407 170Gr. FN (MOD)

Its listed as a 170Gr. bullet
But this is one of the few bullets that we have ran that
is based on Lyman #2 alloy.
With a GC it should weigh 169.2Gr. and a PB 173.4Gr.

If you use wheel weight alloy the weight changes.
GC it should  weigh 174.4Gr. and a PB 178.4Gr.

As you can see you have a lot of leeway to change the weight
with your alloy. If weight is important to what you are doing
change your mix to get what you want.

        I hope this helps

Well that explains it I guess, I just assumed that 170Gn was based on COWW!

That was about the third bullet we ever ran (about 5 years ago)
We have tried to standardize on wheel weights now but its not
            always the case.

I hope we haven’t caused you any grief
